Men's Outdoor Track - Luxhoj Has Record Day to Lead Bears

Carl Luxhoj set a pair of school record and qualified for the NCAA Championships as the Bears won the Silfen Invitational.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/18/09)--Sophomore Carl Luxhoj took first place and set new school records in both the long jump and the triple jump as Coast Guard won the 14-team Silfen Invitational with 291.5 points.

Luxhoj's triple jump was won with a leap of 48 feet 9 inches. The previous record of 48’ 1.75” was held by Bruce Platz which was set in 1970. In addition to the school record, his mark is an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships to be held at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio on May 21-23.

He is currently ranked 2nd in the country in the triple jump and he also broke his own school record in the long jump with a jump of 23 feet 1.75 inches.

Men's Outdoor Track - Luxhoj Earns NEWMAC Honor for Second Straight Week

Carl Luxhoj earned NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second straight week.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/13/09)--For the second straight week Coast Guard sophomore Carl Luxhoj has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

This week, Luxhoj had another set of outstanding performances winning the long jump and triple jump. Luxhoj's long jump mark was 22 feet, 9.75 inches and his triple jump mark of 47 feet, 8 inches is an NCAA provisional qualifier moving him up on the national rankings. The Bears won a tri-meet with Springfield and WPI.

Last week, he won the honor with a long jump of 47 feet, 4.5 inches and a triple jump of 22 feet, 6.25 inches as the Bears won the Coast Guard Invitational.

Jesse Cremeans had a pair of second place finishes as the Bears won the meet.
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(4/11/09)--Kyle Coleman won the 110 meter hurdles (16.37) and the 400 meter hurdles (56.18) and Carl Luxhoj won the long jump (22-9.25) and triple jump (47-8) leading the Bears to a win at the Springfield tri-meet.

Coast Guard finished with 142 points and just edged host Springfeild, who tallied 141 points in the meet. WPI rounded out the competition with 97 points.

Carl Stokes won the discus (142-0) while Andrew Kaufmann was second (141-6).

Carl Luxhoj was named the NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/6/09)--Sophomore Carl Luxhoj was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Luxhoj won the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 4.5 inches and the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 6.25 inches as Coast Guard won the 12-team Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday.

Luxhoj's triple jump mark is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA National Championships.
