Men's Track - Blum, Flint Earn All-America Honors

OSH KOSH, WISC.--(5/26/07)--Junior Steve Blum and senior Mike Flint both earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin Osh Kosh.

Blum won the first flight of the javelin with a throw of 190 feet 10 inches, which was his best to place him fourth overall earning All-America honors for the first time in his career.

Flint, a two-time All-America in indoor track is now a two-time All-America in outdoor track as he placed eighth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:56.44. Flint was seventh last season to earn All-America honors.
 
Men's Track - Flint Advances to 1,500 Final at NCAA's
OSH KOSH, WIS.--(5/25/07)--Mike Flint finished second in his heat of the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:58.41 to advance to the final at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships.

Flint is one of 12 runners that will compete for the championship on Saturday afternoon.

Also on Friday, Steve Blum placed 14th in the decathlon with 6,126 points. He was second in the shot put (42-10.75), third in the javelin (175-10) and fourth in the discus (121-4) during the decathlon. He will compete in the javelin tomorrow.

Chris Hunt competed in the hammer and his throw of 170-10 did not qualify him for the finals. The final qualifying spot was a throw of 172-9.

Zach Geyer placed 12th of 18 athletes in the high jump (6-4.75).
 
Men's Track - Four Bears Invited to NCAA Championships

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/20/07)--Four Coast Guard Academy athletes were invited to compete at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh beginning on Thursday.

Seniors Mike Flint and Zach Geyer along with juniors Steve Blum and Chris Hunt will represent the Coast Guard Academy this season.

Flint, who earned All-America honors with a seventh place finish last season in the 1,500 meters, will again run the 1,500 meters while Geyer will compete in the high jump.

Blum will compete in both the javelin and the decathlon while Hunt will throw the hammer. Blum was ninth in the decathon at last season's NCAA Championships.
 
Men's Track - Bears 13th of 36 at All-N.E. Championships

Mike Flint finished 3rd in the 1,500 meters despite having his appendix removed three weeks ago.
HANOVER, N.H.--(5/12/07)--Coast Guard placed 13th of 36 teams and third of all the Division III schools at the All-New England Championships consisting of athletes from Divisions I, II and III held at Dartmouth College.

Earning All-New England honors and scoring points for the Bears were Mike Flint, who just weeks after having his appendix removed, finished third in the 1,500 meters (3:49.75), Zach Geyer tied for sixth in the high jump (6 feet, 5 inches) while Chris Hunt was seventh in the hammer (171-5).

Coast Guard finished with 20.5 points. Steve Blum accounted for 10 of those points as he won the decathlon on Friday.
