(Darnell Isaacs Photography) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/9/07)--Colleen Perry fired a two-hit shutout while striking out a career-high 15 batters including the 600th of her career leading Coast Guard to its season-high third straight win, a 3-0 victory over Salve Regina in a non-conference game.
Perry simply overmatched the Salve Regina lineup allowing just a pair of singles, one in the first and the other in the fourth while also walking two batters.
Coast Guard (9-13) broke a scoreless tie in the fifth as Leanna Minton singled and stole second and scored on an RBI double by Carin Sweeney. Minton was 3 for 4 with three stolen bases in the game. |

(Darnell Isaacs Photography) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/7/07)--Colleen Denny highlighted a four-run fifth inning with a three-run double, her second double and fourth RBI of the game as Coast Guard came from behind to beat MIT 7-4 in the opener and Katie Murray allowed just three hits and an unearned run in the nightcap as the Bears completed the sweep of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader with a 3-1 win.
In the opener, Kasey Rowe had an RBI double in the second and Helen O’Keefe added and RBI single in fourth giving MIT a 2-0 lead.
Coast Guard got on the board in the home half of the fourth as Denny’s RBI double scored Jeannie Crump, who led the inning off with a double.
Crump was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fifth to tie the game before Denny’s three-run double to left. |

(Darnell Isaacs Photography) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/3/07)--Wesleyan’s Karla Hargrave worked out of a one-out bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to record her second save of the season as the Cardinals beat Coast Guard 2-1 in a non-conference game.
Hargrave came on in relief of starter Meaghan Dendy with runners of first and second. Hargrave walked Jeannie Crump to load the bases before getting a ground out and pop up to end the game.

 Colleen Perry fired a one-hitter in the opener to record her 50th career win. WELLESLEY, MASS.--(4/1/07)--Coast Guard Academy used a two-run first and a dominant pitching performance from Colleen Perry to defeat Wellesley College 2-1 in the opening game of the day and snap a four-game losing streak before Wellesley won the nightcap by the same 2-1 score for a split of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader.
In the opening game, Coast Guard loaded the bases in the top of the first, and Colleen Denny singled, driving in Jeannie Crump and Annette Boston for a 2-0 lead. As both Perry and Kristie Gola settled into a groove, the score remained unchanged until the bottom of the sixth, when Alex Houghtalin led off with Wellesley's first and only hit of the game, a double to deep center field. Houghtalin advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Amanda Tai and then scored on a throwing error from left field, after a long foul out off the bat of Alex Coari. Perry slammed the door on the Blue by striking out Megan Wood to end the sixth, then retiring the home team in order in the seventh to record her 50th career win. |
