 Chloe Harmon hit two homers and drove in six runs in the doubleheader. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/21/12)--Babson hit seven home runs with three players each going deep twice as the Beavers swept a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader from Coast Guard and moved all the way up to the second seed for the conference tournament winning the opener 8-4 and completing the sweep with a 13-8 win in game two.
The Beavers improved to 23-16 overall and finish conference play with a 10-6 record while Coast Guard drops to 20-16 overall and end 8-8 in the NEWMAC.
Coast Guard will be the sixth seed and play third seeded Wellesley on Tuesday at Babson at 2:30 pm with the winner playing #2 Babson at 4:30 p.m. in the double elimination tournament. |

 Kaitlin Ward was 3 for 3 with four RBI's and made a game saving catch in the opener. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/20/12)--Senior All-American Hayley Feindel threw a pair of complete games and struck out 23 as Coast Guard locked up a spot in the conference tournament by sweeping first place Springfield in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader. The Bears won the opener 5-4 in eight innings before completing the sweep with a 4-3 win in the night cap.
In the opener, senior Maddie Buchert was placed at second in the bottom of the eighth as part of the tiebreaker. Freshman Jesse Richardson’s bunt was thrown away allowing Buchert to score as junior catcher Allison Clott could not handle the throw giving the Bears the game one win.
Coast Guard scored twice in the first on a two-run double by sophomore Kaitlin Ward. The Pride got one in the top of the second on a solo homer by junior Breann Joyce. |

 Kelsey Gray drove in two runs in the opener. WILLIMANTIC, CONN.--(4/17/12)--National earned run average leader Molly Rathbun struck out 14 in eight scoreless innings and junior third baseman Arielle Cooper broke the program record for consecutive games with a hit as the Eastern Connecticut, ranked third nationally, extended its winning streak to 26 with 7-0, 5-4 wins over Coast Guard.
The Bears had thoughts of an upset in the night cap leading 4-1 in the fourth before the Warriors scored one in the fourth and four times in the fifth.
Rathbun (17-1) won her 16th straight decision with a complete-game two-hitter in the opener for her 42nd career shutout, then fanned two in a scoreless seventh in the nightcap for her fourth save. |
