Men's Crew - 2V Wins; 1V Places Second in Opener
WORCESTER, MASS.--(3/28/09)--The Bears posted a strong performance in the season opener dual race against New England rival Wesleyan. In the men’s first varsity race, Coast Guard was in control of the race until Wesleyan finished with a strong sprint narrowly beating Coast Guard by 1.3 seconds.

The 1V, finishing in a time of 6:09.6, was rowed by Andrew Haley (Sr), Nick Ianarone (Sr), Tomas Nojokitis (Sr), Dan Swaim (Jr), Phil Constantino (Jr), Kris Kesting (Jr), Tom Olsen (Jr), Sam Merrit (Jr), Andrew Slater (Jr).

Men's Crew - Bears Post Strong Performance at Head of Charles
BOSTON, MASS.--(10/19/08)--The US Coast Guard Academy Men’s and Women’s Crews competed against the top DI, DII, DIII and club programs from all over the world at the 44th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta.

On Saturday, under clear and sunny skies, two of the CGA’s four entries opened up the weekend of competition. The CGA Second Varsity Men competed in the Club Eight event against a variety of crews ranging from international club programs to DI programs who did not get accepted into the Championship events to other DIII second varsity's, while the Women’s Second Varsity competed in the Collegiate 4+ event that included collegiate programs in the US and Canada regardless of division as long as there are no athletic scholarships offered. In the Men’s event, the Bears posted a great performance that had them finish in 20th place out of the field of 69 crews. The winner was Harvard University’s Second Varsity. With this performance, CGA once again guaranteed an entry in the Men’s Club Eight event in next year’s regatta.

Men's Crew - Bears Win Silver at ECAC National Invitational
WORCESTER, MASS.--(5/11/08)--In the Men's Varsity Four event, an event that that CGA had qualified for the first time ever, the Bears qualified for the Grand Finals by winning their heat in the morning in a real battle with Tufts, who had beaten them last weekend at the New England Championships.

In the afternoon Grand Final, the CGA four had the best race of the season and had a brilliant last 500 meters to place themselves into a four boat 'photo finish' and to to ultimately capture the silver medal, the first medal ever won by a CGA crew at the ECAC's. The Bears finished just 0.8 seconds behind the University of Virginia and 0.5 seconds and 0.7 seconds ahead of Tufts and Marist respectively.

Men's Crew - All Four Boats Make Grand Finals at NE Championships
WORCESTER, MASS.--(5/4/08)--Coast Guard showed its depth and overall team speed by placing all four boats into the Grand Finals at the New England Rowing Championships held Sunday under wet conditions at Lake Quinsigamond.

The men’s novice team put in very strong performance in their Grand Final and took third place in a time of 6:21.3. This performance put the CGA novice men in a great position for the upcoming ECAC National Invitational Championship. The Novice 8 included Hilary Grimes (Fr), Nick Greaver (Fr), John Olbrys (Fr), Dave Kent (Fr), Austin King (Fr), Brian Bonomi (Fr), Dave Birdsong (Fr), Corbin (Fr) and Alex Schmidt (Fr).
