 John Jeffares had three of Coast Guard's 10 hits in the doubleheader. He was the only Coast Guard player with more than one hit on the day. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/21/09)--Babson had a pair of solid pitching performances from sophomore Andrew Aizenstadt in the opener and senior Jeff Wojnar in the nightcap as the Beavers swept Coast Guard 6-1 and 10-3 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opening doubleheader for both teams.
In the opener, Aizenstadt (2-0) went the distance as he pitched seven innings and allowed six hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out six.
Babson blew open a 2-0 game with three runs in the sixth with freshman Stephen Albano and junior Peter O’Toole delivering back-to-back RBI singles in the inning. |

 Mike Ahlin had a strong outing with seven solid innings in the loss. PROVIDENCE, R.I.—-(3/18/09)-—Junior Jeff Jordan scattered eight hits and didn’t allow an earned run while striking out five leading Johnson & Wales to a 7-1 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.
Sophomore Mike Ahlin (1-2) threw seven solid innings allowing seven hits, four runs, three earned while walking two and striking out three, but he took the loss.
The Wildcats (3-7) scored once in the first, once in the third and two times in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.
Coast Guard (4-5) scored its only run in the eighth inning as junior John Jeffares led off with a walk and later scored on an RBI ground out by senior Brian Yurovich to make the score 4-1. |

 Brian Yurovich had four hits in the final game of the Florida trip. FORT MYERS, FLA.--(3/14/09)—-Central (Iowa) scored four times in the bottom of the ninth to beat Coast Guard 13-12 in the Bears final game at the Gene Cusic Classic.
Coast Guard (4-4) broke a 9-9 tie in the top of the ninth on a two-run triple by junior Ryan Milligan, who later scored on a wild pitch for a 12-9 lead.
Sophomore Jesse Karr worked eight innings for Coast Guard allowing seven earned runs and he struck out three. |

 Nic Freburg had a huge day as the Bears improved to 4-3. FORT MYERS, FLA.--(3/13/09)--Freshman Nic Freburg was 6 for 9 with three doubles, a homer and five RBI as Coast Guard swept a doubleheader from Finlandia of Michigan 12-2 and 14-5 at the Gene Cusic Classic.
Senior Pete Schofield went the distance in game one to improve to 2-0. He scattered eight hits and allowed two earned runs while not walking a batter and striking out nine.
Sophomore Mike Ahlin picked up his first career win as he pitched a complete game allowing eight hits and four earned runs while walking five and striking out four in game two for the Bears. |
