Baseball - Bears Rally for 15-13 Win at Mass. Maritime

Keith Laird led Coast Guard with a career-high four hits.
BUZZARDS BAY, MASS.--(4/11/07)--Chuck Arena had a single, double, triple and four RBI's while Keith Laird had a career-high four hits as Coast Guard erased a 6-0 deficit to beat Mass. Maritime 15-13 in a non-conference game.

Coast Guard trailed 6-0 after two innings and 7-2 after three innings before taking advantage of seven Mass. Maritime errors in the fourth inning to pull to within 7-6.

The Bears (10-11) trailed 11-8 after five innings before taking the lead for good with six runs in the sixth. In the sixth Laird, Ken Franklin (two hits) and Brian Lisko each had RBI singles, Arena had an RBI double and Christian George, who had two hits in the game, added a sacrifice fly and the Bears led 14-11.

Baseball - Springfield Beats Bears 13-5

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/10/07)--Jimmy Lisowski allowed just three hits and one run and did not walk a batter while striking out 10 in five innings while the Pride scored in each of the first six innings enroute to their first conference win of the season, a 13-5 victory over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Springfield (5-13), which has now won three straight, scored in each of the first six innings taking a 13-1 lead more than enough for Lisowksi who improved to 2-3 on the season. Derek Hodder worked the final four innings for the Pride allowing six hits, four runs, two earned while walking one and striking out three.

Baseball - Schofield Named NEWMAC Co-Pitcher of the Week

Pete Schofield was named the NEWMAC Co-Pitcher of the Week after not allowing a run in 10 2/3 innings last week.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/9/07)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Pete Schofield was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Co-Pitcher of the Week as he recorded his first career win by firing a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Clark.

Schofield, who entered the week with a 9.26 ERA, began the week by throwing 3 2/3 innings of two hit relief in a loss to Johnson and Wales on Tuesday before the three-hit shutout on Saturday.

Baseball - Schofield, Becker pitch complete games in sweep of Clark

Pete Schofield pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener to record his first career win.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(4/7/07)--Sophomore Pete Schofield tossed a three-hitter in the opener, to pickup his first career win, and Will Becker went the distance scatttering nine hits and allowing two runs in game two as Coast Guard swept Clark 6-0 and 16-2 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader.

Schofield (1-1) worked all seven innings and allowed three singles, walked three and struck out three.

Coast Guard got all it would need in the first as Christian George tripled and Chuck Arena hit a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead. The Bears added one more in the third on an RBI single by Arena, his school record 155th career hit breaking the mark of 154 held by Rob Trevino (1999-2002). Arena had three hits on the day to finish the afternoon with 157 hits.
