 Jesse Karr had a great outing in the final game of his career. BEVERLY, MASS.--(5/14/11)--Jeff Scafidi allowed one run on four hits while striking out six to push #7 Anna Maria into the ECAC New England Championship game with a 2-1 win over #6 Coast Guard at Endicott College’s North Athletic Field Saturday afternoon.
Coast Guard, which tied the single-season school record with 21 wins this year finishes its outstanding season 21-16.
Scafidi carried a two-hitter into the ninth inning before Coast Guard threatened by loading the bases with nobody out. The AMCATS made the call to senior right-hander Zach Rafferty to get them out of the jam. Rafferty got his first batter to ground out before striking out the next two to end the game. |

 Cameron Carroll's RBI single in the ninth gave the Bears a 4-3 lead. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/11/11)--Sophomore Cameron Carroll’s RBI single in the top of the ninth broke a 4-4 tie and started a three-run rally as sixth-seeded Coast Guard tied the single-season school record for wins with a 7-4 victory over third-seeded Worcester State in the wifirst round of the ECAC Division III New England tournament at the Coast Guard Academy.
Coast Guard (21-15), tied the single-season school record of 21 wins set in 1994 and won a postseason game for just the second time in program history with the other coming in the first round of the ECAC tournament in 2002.
The Bears will take on seventh-seeded Anna Maria in the semifinals on Saturday at top-seeded Endicott at 3 p.m. Anna Maria upset second-seeded Brandeis 8-5. |

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/9/11)--The Coast Guard Academy baseball team posted a winning record for the first time in nine years and the Bears were rewarded with a bid to the ECAC New England tournament for the first time since 2002.
The Bears are the #6 seed and will host third-seeded Worcester State (23-14) in the first round of the single-elimination tournament on Wednesday at 3:00. Coast Guard will host the game because Worcester State can’t host on that day. The Lancers finished in a tie for second place in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
Coast Guard won 20 games for just the third time in program history, the Bears are 20-15, just one win shy of tying the school record of 21 wins set in 1994. |

 Nick Peters was named to the NEWMAC All-Academic team for the second straight season. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/28/11)--Coast Guard junior Nick Peters and sophomore Ed Sella were named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball All-Academic team.
Peters, an outfielder and pitcher for the Bears, is a Mechanical Engineering major and earns a spot on the All-Academic team for the second straight season.
Sella, a Civil Engineering major, is an outfielder and he earns All-Academic honors in his first year of eligibility. |
