SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/22/09)--Coast Guard Academy senior Kevin Robinson closed out his career earning All-New England honors with a fifth place finish in the 174 pound weight class at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Division III Championship.

Coast Guard finished 12th of 15 teams with 23 points.

Robinson, who earned All-New England honors for the first time in his career, won on an injury default before losing his second match to top-seeded Jerome Owens of Johnson and Wales.

In the consolation bracket, Robinson pinned Matt Hansen of WNEC in 4:16 and then beat Zach Bates of Bridgewater State 6-2 to assure himself of earning All-New England honors.

Senior Bryan Conrad and the Bears won twice to celebrate Senior Night.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/13/09)--Seniors Bryan Conrad and Kevin Robinson each picked up a pair of victories on Senior Night which was also head coach Steve Eldridge’s birthday as Coast Guard swept a tri-meet, its final dual matches of the season beating WNEC 23-18 and MIT 34-24.

In the Bears first match of the night against WNEC Matt Leisy won a crucial match at 165 pounds, the closest bout of the night, an 11-10 win, had he lost that match WNEC would have beaten Coast Guard 21-20.

Conrad won a forfeit at 133 pounds, Andrew Armstrong (141 pounds) won by pin at 6:20, Andy Snyder (157) won by tech. fall 17-1 while Robinson won an 8-0 decision at 174 pounds before WNEC won the final three bouts.

Andy Snyder took 3rd place in the 157 pound weight class, the top Coast Guard finisher.

LEXINGTON, VA.--(2/7/09)--Sophomore Andy Snyder was the top Coast Guard finisher as he placed third at the 15th Annual All-Academy Championships hosted by VMI.

Coast Guard lost all nine of its first round matches, seven by pin.

In the consolation bracket, Bryan Conrad (133) decisioned Josh Sandhaus from Army, 10-8, Andy Snyder (157) decisioned Joe Stafford from Air Force, 12-5 and junior Troy Robison (HWT) decisioned James Billings from Merchant Marine 5-4 to advance.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(2/4/09)--Sophomore Kevin Sutherland picked up his team-leading 32nd win with a technical fall victory at 149 lbs. and RIC recorded three forfeit wins to lead the Anchormen past Coast Guard, 35-9, in a Pilgrim Wrestling League match on Wednesday evening at The Murray Center.

With RIC leading, 6-3, sophomore Travis Drappi overcame an injury during his match to down eighth-ranked Coast Guard junior Andrew Armstrong, 7-6, at 141 lbs. to key a four-match win streak for the hosts. Sutherland followed with his win, then freshman Mike Trasso and classmate Jordan Jacquo each took forfeits.
