 Dan Ippolito won by decision at 141 pounds, but the Bears fell short at Bridgewater. BRIDGEWATER, MASS.--(1/14/09)--In Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) action, the Bridgewater State College Bears knocked off visiting Coast Guard Academy, 28-15.
The dual meet victory marked BSC’s first win of the season as the Bears improved to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the PWL. Coast Guard dips to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in league matches.
The BSC Bears jumped out to a 12-0 lead thanks to a forfeit win by freshman 125-pounder Carl O’Neal and a first period pin by freshman Ken Francis at 133. Coast Guard cut the deficit to 12-9 two bouts later as junior Dan Ippolito earned a 13-10 decision in the 141-pound match and senior Erik Heithaus picked up a forfeit victory at 149. |

 Bryan Conrad won the championship at 133 pounds as the Bears placed fifth overall. PLYMOUTH, N.H.--(1/10/09)--Senior Bryan Conrad won the championship at 133 pounds as Coast Guard placed 5th of eight teams at the Plymouth State Invitational.
Conrad beat Ken Francis from Bridgewater State 7-6 in the championship match.
Junior Troy Robison took third place at heavyweight as he pinned Jake Gagnon from Plymouth State in just 1:08 in the third place match. |

 Andrew Armstrong recorded the only win for the Bears. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/8/09)--The Mariners won nine of the 10 matches, three by forfeit and two by pin as Merchant Marine, ranked 12th nationally, beat Coast Guard 43-4.
Junior Andrew Armstrong recorded the only win for the Bears as he beat Logan Little 10-2 in the 141 pound weight class.
The Mariners improve to 7-3 on the season while Coast Guard drops to 0-2 in dual meets.
Merchant Marine now leads Coast Guard 4-2 in race for the the 2008-’09 Superintendent’s Trophy, the next two points are up for grabs on Jan. 24th when Coast Guard hosts men’s and women’s swimming and diving at noon.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(12/6/08)--Senior Bryan Conrad was the top Coast Guard finisher as he placed 5th at 133 pounds at the RIT Invitational. The Bears finished 12th of the 13 teams.
Conrad, seeded fourth, lost his first match of the day to fifth-seeded Paul Rose, of Notre Dame College, 14-9. Conrad then won 11-3 and 9-4 before losing 10-8 to drop into the 5th place match. He won the fifth place match 4-3 over Tyler Altmeyer of Waynesburg University. |
