BRISTOL, R.I.--(1/28/12)--Coast Guard won one of three matches at the New NEWA-Metro Duals at Roger Williams College.

The Bears beat NYU 23-22 in the first match of the day. Anthony Signorello registered a pin at 133 pounds, Colin Schuster (157) and Joel Wyman (Hwt.) recorded wins by decision while Mike Giorgio (149) won by major decision. Nate Giorgio won by forfeit at 125 for the Bears. The match was tied 22-22 after the ten bouts, but the Bears onw the tiebreaker having more points in the match to get the tiebreaking point and the win.

Hunter beat the Bears 30-10 in the second round as Nate Giorgio won by a major decision at 125 pounds while Schuster (157) and Vaughn Gehman (165) won by decision for Coast Guard.

In the Bears final match, a 29-15 loss to the College of New Jersey, Giorgio won by forfeit at 125 pounds, Wyman won by a pin in 2:34 and Virgil Moreno (174) won a decision in the loss.

Coast Guard drops to 2-14 on the season.

Wrestling - Nate Giorgio Wins Three More

Nate Giorgio won all three matches at the NEWA Dual Meet Championships.

SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(1/22/12)--Nate Giorgio continued his outstanding freshman season with three wins, as Coast Guard went 1-2 at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meet Championships at Springfield College.

Coast Guard lost to defending champion Wesleyan 40-7 in the first round. Giorgio won a 13-1 major decision at 125 pounds while Colin Schuster won 5-0 at 157 pounds for the Bears.

Plymouth State beat Coast Guard 29-8 in the second round. Giorgio, the top-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds in New England, moved up to 133 and recorded a 18-1 win while Mark Howard won a 5-2 decision at 197 pounds.

GORHAM, MAINE--(1/18/12)--Coast Guard dropped a pair of matches in a tri-meet losing 28-12 to Trinity and 46-3 to host Southern Maine.

Anthony Signorello (141) and Michael Giorgio (149) won by forfeit for the Bears point in the loss to Trinity.

Mark Howard won 8-4 at 197 pounds for the only Coast Guard points against Southern Maine.

Wrestling - Bears Split; Get First Win of Season

Nate Giorgio pinned both of his opponents on Saturday afternoon.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/14/12)--Freshman Nate Giorgio, ranked first in New England at 125 pounds, registered a pin in the final bout of final match of the afternoon as Coast Guard picked up its first win of the season beating WPI 24-18 after losing to Western New England 24-21 earlier in the day.

WPI led the Bears 18-12 before Joel Wyman recorded a pin in 4:07 to tie the match 18-18. Giorgio then gave the Bears the win with a 3:23.

Mike Giorgio won a 6-5 decision at 149 pounds, Colin Schuster won 7-2 at 157 pounds, Kevin Koch won 7-4 at 174 pounds and Mark Howard won 3-0 at 197 pounds for the Bears in the win.

In the first match, the 24-21 loss to Western New England Nate Giorgio recorded a pin in just 56 seconds.

Mike Giorgio won 8-5 at 149 pounds, Schuster registered a pin in just 1:09 at 157 pounds, Koch won 4-1 at 174 pounds and Howard recorded a 9-2 decision at 197 pounds for Coast Guard.

WPI beat Western New England 25-18 in the other match of the day.
