 Andrew Armstrong placed fourth at the All-Academy Championships, hosted by Navy. ANNAPOLIS, MD.--(2/6/10)--Senior Andrew Armstrong was the top Coast Guard finisher as he placed fourth at the All-Academy Championships host by Navy.
Armstrong, wrestling at 133 pounds as the fourth-seed, won his first match, beating John Dasilva from Norwich 9-6 before losing a heartbreaker to top-seeded Pat McCaffey from Navy 9-8.
In the consolation bracket, Armstrong beat Ian Nisely from Merchant Marine 4-2 before losing the third place match to third-seeded Jordan Dix from Citadel 9-2.
Also winning first round matches for the Bears were junior Andy Snyder at 157 pounds as he defeated Adam Edgerton from Norwich 9-2 and senior Matt Leisy at 165 pounds, who upset fourth-seeded Conor Black from VMI 7-2. |

 Troy Robison recorded the Bears only pin of the night in the tie at WPI. WORCESTER, MASS.--(2/2/10)--WPI won the final three matches, erasing a 23-8 deficit and tied Coast Guard 23-23.
Freshman Fred Green (141) and junior Andy Snyder (157) won by major decision with Green winning 10-2 and Snyder recording a 12-0 win for his team-leading 21st victory of the season to give the Bears an 8-5 lead.
Senior Matt Leisy (165) followed with a 20-4 technical fall win to give the Bears a 13-5 edge. Junior Will Stark (174) lost a 7-6 decision to cut the lead to 13-8. |

 Andy Snyder earned Pilgrim Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week honors. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/1/10)--Coast Guard Academy junior Andy Snyder has been named the Pilgrim Wrestling League’s Wrestler of the Week after recording a pair of wins including his 20th of the season.
Snyder, ranked sixth in New England at 157 pounds, beat Kyle Muir from Trinity 7-1 and Peter Gilman from Southern Maine 12-1 in the Bears only action of the week.
He is now 20-6 overall (.777) with six pins on the season for the Bears, who will wrestle at WPI on Tuesday and then compete at the All-Academy Championships at Navy this weekend.
Snyder, who was unseeded last season, placed third at the All-Academy Championships last season as he upset third-seeded Keith Koziel from The Citadel 4-2 in the third place match.

 Andy Snyder picked up a pair of wins for the Bears. HARTFORD, CONN.--(1/29/10)--Coast Guard dropped a pair of matches, losing to Southern Maine 25-13 and host Trinity 29-16.
Andy Snyder recorded a pair of wins including his 20th of the season at 157 pounds for the Bears. He won 12-1 vs. Southern Maine for a major decision and 7-1 for a decision vs. Trinity.
In the opening match vs. Southern Maine, Will Stark (174), Dan Pereia (184) and Troy Robison (197) all recorded wins by decision for the Bears.
In the loss to Trinity, Andrew Armstrong won a 20-7 major decision at 133 pounds, Matt Leisy won a decision at 165 pounds and Paul Hahn-Rauch pinned his opponent, Greg Vaughn, ranked third in New England, at heavyweight.
