 Nate Giorgio earned Pilgrim Rookie of the Week honors after placing second on Saturday. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/21/11)--Coast Guard Academy freshman Nate Giorgio has been named the Pilgrim Wrestling League Rookie of the Week after placing second at the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College.
Giorgio posted a 3-1 record losing the championship match at 125 pounds to place second.
He was named the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Rookie of the Week last Monday after he went 4-0 at 125 pounds to capture first place at the Roger Williams Invitational. He was also named the meet’s Lightweight Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Giorgio is 10-3 this season tied with Pat Leavitt (10-5) for the team lead with ten wins on the year.

SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(11/19/11)--Freshman Nate Giorgio placed second in the 125 pound weight class as Coast Guard tied for 12th place at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield College.
Giorgio, who won the 125 weight class and was named the Lightweight Most Outstanding Wrestler last week at the Roger Williams Invitational, lost to Sam Shames from MIT in the championship match. It was a rematch of the championship match from last week in which Giorgio beat Shames 13-8.
The Bears were tied with Oswego for 12th place with 38.5 points as Giorgio was the only top four place winner for Coast Guard. |

Giorgio went 4-0 at 125 pounds to capture first place at the Roger Williams Invitational. He was also named the meet’s Lightweight Most Outstanding Wrestler.
He began the day with a pin in 3:16 before recording a 15-0 major decision to advance to the semifinals. He earned a berth in the championship match with a 5-2 win over Brandon Gauthier, a returning All-American from Rhode Island College, before beating Sam Shames from MIT 13-8 to win the 125 pound weight class.
Giorgio has a record of 7-2 on the season after placing fourth at the Messiah Invitational with three wins in five matches to open the season. |

 Lucas Taylor placed second at 165 pounds. BRISTOL, R.I.--(11/12/11)--Freshman Nate Giorgio won the 125 pound weight class and was named the Lightweight Most Outstanding Wrestler as the Bears placed fifth of 12 teams at the Roger Williams Invitational.
Giorgio won all four matches. He began the day with a pin in 3:16 before recording a 15-0 major decision to advance to the semifinals. He earned a berth in the championship match with a 5-2 win before beating Sam Shames from MIT 13-8 to win the 125 pound weight class.
Sophomore Lucas Taylor placed second in the 165 pound weight class he won 10-9, registered a pin in just 1:40, won 2-1 and then 4-1 before falling 7-2 to Ryan Madson of MIT in the championship match. |
