 Matt Leisy earned All-New England honors for the first time in his career. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/21/10)--Senior Matt Leisy earned All-New England honors at 165 pounds with a sixth place finish to close out the season at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championships hosted by Western New England College.
Leisy, who earns All-New England honors for the first time in his career, won his opening match by the score of 11-4 before being knocked into the losers bracket with an 18-2 loss.
He then won twice in the consolation bracket 8-5 and 16-3 before losing 11-3 to drop into the fifth place match where he was beaten 17-1.
Coast Guard finished 13th of the 14 teams.

 Troy Robison won a decision vs. WNEC to clinch the win and complete the comeback. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/12/10)--Coast Guard rallied from a 21-3 deficit by winning the final five matches to knock off host Western New England 23-21 in the first match of the night before falling to New England power Johnson & Wales 47-3 in the final dual meets of the season.
In the come-from-behind win over WNEC, Fred Green picked up a 7-5 decision at 141 pounds, to get the Bears on the board after falling behind 18-0, 12 of those points coming on forfeits.
Following a loss by decision at 149 pounds, Coast Guard trailed 21-3.
Andy Snyder continued his outstanding season as he recorded a pin in just 58 seconds at 157 pounds to cut the deficit to 21-9. |

 Andy Snyder recorded the only pin of the match in the loss to Rhode Island College. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/9/10)--Rhode Island College won four of the seven matches that took place and also added three forfeit wins to beat Coast Guard 34-12 in a Pilgrim Wrestling League match.
Coast Guard junior Andy Snyder recorded the only pin of the match at 165 pounds as he pinned Brendan Guarino in 1:49.
A pair of Coast Guard wrestlers picked up a win in the final home meet of their careers as senior Troy Robison (197) won a 2-0 decision while classmate Andrew Armstrong picked up a 6-3 decision at 133 pounds.
Rhode Island College had beaten Coast Guard 26-18 earlier in the season.
The Anchormen improve to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in the league while the Bears drop to 1-12-1 overall and 0-5 in league action.

 Andrew Armstrong placed fourth at the All-Academy Championships, hosted by Navy. ANNAPOLIS, MD.--(2/6/10)--Senior Andrew Armstrong was the top Coast Guard finisher as he placed fourth at the All-Academy Championships host by Navy.
Armstrong, wrestling at 133 pounds as the fourth-seed, won his first match, beating John Dasilva from Norwich 9-6 before losing a heartbreaker to top-seeded Pat McCaffey from Navy 9-8.
In the consolation bracket, Armstrong beat Ian Nisely from Merchant Marine 4-2 before losing the third place match to third-seeded Jordan Dix from Citadel 9-2.
Also winning first round matches for the Bears were junior Andy Snyder at 157 pounds as he defeated Adam Edgerton from Norwich 9-2 and senior Matt Leisy at 165 pounds, who upset fourth-seeded Conor Black from VMI 7-2. |
