Andrew Armstrong was named a Scholar All-American
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/17/08)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Andrew Armstrong has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar All-American wrestling team.

Armstrong has a 3.47 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major.

He earned All-New England honors this season with a sixth place finish at 133 pounds at the New England Division III Championships.

Colin Boyle placed third at 165 pounds to earn All-New England honors.
GORHAM, MAINE--(2/24/08)--Senior Colin Boyle and sophomore Andrew Armstrong each earned All-New England honors as the Bears placed 10th of 15 teams at the Division III New England Wrestling Championships hosted by Southern Maine.

Boyle won his first two matches at 165 pounds before losing to Springfield's Jake Tyler 5-3 to get sent to the consolation bracket. Boyle then won two more matches to earn a rematch with Tyler in the consolation final, where he lost 7-2 to place third.

Armstrong also won his first two matches at 133 pounds before losing to eventual champion, Brian Zane of Norwich and runnerup Corey Paulish of Williams, to place sixth.

Wrestling - Bears Split Tri-Meet at MIT

Dan Sorby won both matches in the tri-meet for the Bears.
CAMBRIDGE, MASS.--(2/15/08)--Dan Miller and Dan Sorby each won a pair of matches, one by pin and the other by decision as Coast Guard beat host MIT 31-18, but lost to WNEC 25-22.

Miller won by decision vs. WNEC and by pin vs. MIT at 184 pounds and Sorby (197 pounds), won by pin vs. WNEC and by decision vs. MIT.

Garrett Feldman won both his matches by major decision while Colin Boyle won by decision vs. WNEC and via medical forfeit against MIT.

Also for the Bears, Kevin Robinson won by pin vs. WNEC.

Coast Guard finishes the dual meet portion of the season at 3-12.
 
Wrestling - Bears Drop Two to New England Powers
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/5/08)--Senior Colin Boyle and sophomore James Rader each recorded a win by fall, but Coast Guard dropped a pair of matches to New England powers. The Bears lost to #14 Rhode Island College 35-18 before losing to Johnson & Wales 26-18.

Boyle won by pin in the first match of the night vs. Rhode Island College at 165 pounds as he pinned his opponent in just one minute and 11 seconds. Rader won in two minutes and 50 seconds at 149 pound vs. Johnson & Wales.

Sophomore Fran O’Brien picked up a pair of wins by forfeit at 157 pounds. Senior Garrett Feldman won by forfeit vs. RIC while sophomore Dan Ippolito won by forfeit vs. Johnson & Wales.

Coast Guard drops to 2-11 on the season.
