Men's Swimming - 2010-2011 Season Preview
Image
Alex Brown, the defending NEWMAC champion in the 200 freestyle, is one of three captains for the Bears this season.
The Bears return nearly all of the athletes who scored points and contributed at the NEWMAC championship meet. The solid core of nine athletes who achieved NCAA qualifying times will serve as the center around which the team is built. The addition of some immediate impact athletes will bolster a depleted backstroke group with the graduation in 2010 of school record holder Timmy Berry, and provide depth in many areas. It should be an improved men’s squad that competes at NEWMAC’s in February 2011.

The team will be led by three captains: Jared Hylander, Mitch Schumacher, and 200 free conference champion Alex Brown. The captains will be joined by classmates and CSCAA All-Academic honorees Eric Schwartz and Mike Carman in the freestyle and breaststroke events respectively. Rounding out the deep and fast senior class are Brian Bonomi (a relay NCAA qualifier) as well as Ted Borny and Liam Bell in the distance events. These seniors are the biggest class of swimmers produced by Coast Guard in recent memory.
