Men's Swimming - Morel Sweeps Diving to Lead Bears Past Clark

Orlando Morel posted a pair of wins to lead the Bears.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(1/29/11)--Junior Orlando Morel won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events leading Coast Guard to a 134-99 win over Clark.

The Bears improved to 8-1 in dual meets this season.

Morel led the way for Coast Guard sweeping the 1-meter (244.35) and the 3-meter (210.10) diving events.

Also for the Bears, junior Johnson Knox won the 50 freestyle (21.52), senior Dan Alley won the 100 butterfly (53.20) while junior Nick Cosenza won the 1,000 freestyle (10:14.66).

The Bears 400 medley relay team of freshman Barrett Johannsen, and juniors Mike Carman, Dan Beshoar and Brian McGuiness also won with a time of 3:38.62.

 
Men's Swimming - Bears Beat Merchant Marine on Senior Day

Bryan Andrews had a pair of individual wins and was part of winning relay in the Bears win.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/22/11)--Junior Bryan Andrews won a pair of events and was part of a winning relay team leading Coast Guard to a 174-123 win over rival Merchant Marine on Senior Day, the final home meet of the season.

Andrews won both the 100 backstroke (55.48) and the 200 backstroke (2:02.20), while senior Mike Carman won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.23) and the 200 breaststroke (2:10.70) for the Bears.

Andrews teamed with junior Matt Odom, senior Dan Alley and junior Johnson Knox to win the 200 medley relay team with a time of 1:38.31.

Men's Swimming - Bears Split With NEWMAC Foes

Johnson Knox was part of three second place finishes for the Bears.
CAMBRIDGE, MASS.--(1/16/11)--Nick Poehler won the 1,000 freestyle and Johnson Knox had three second place finishes as Coast Guard split a tri-meet with New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) powerhouses.

Coast Guard beat Springfield 224-76 while MIT, ranked fifth nationally, handed the Bears their first loss of the season 195-103.

Poehler won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:55.63 while Marco Tinari took second in the event with a time of 9:57.63.

Men's Swimming - Bears Win Easily at Conn. College

Orlando Morel won both diving events as the Bears beat Conn. College.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/4/10)--Junior Orlando Morel won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events as Coast Guard easily beat host and neighbor rival Connecticut College 205-94 to remain unbeaten improving to 5-0 in dual meets this season.

Morel finished with 226.35 points on the 1-meter board and 236.33 points on the 3-meter board.

Sophomore Kevin Smit also won a pair of event for Coast Guard as he won the 200 butterfly (1:57.38) and the 400 IM (4:21.62).
