 Mike Carman earned NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time this season. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/2/09)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Mike Carman has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Co-Swimmer of the Week.
Carman won the 100 breaststroke (1:00.12) and the 200 breaststroke (2:09.09) in a 201-91 win over Conn. College on Friday. Both of those times were career bests while his time in the 200 breaststroke is very close to an NCAA cut time.
He earns NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Coast Guard, which has won four straight dual meets, is 8-2 on the season. |

 Chris Woods won the 50 freestyle and was part of a winning relay. WORCESTER, MASS.--(1/31/09)--Chris Woods won the 50 freestyle (22.69) and was part of the winning 400 yard medley relay team as Coast Guard beat host Clark 134-94.
Woods teamed with Ryan Taylor, Matt Odom and Eric Schwartz to win the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:41.12.
Seven other Bears won event as Brian McGuiness won the 1,000 freestyle (10:19.13), Alex Brown won the 200 freestyle (1:47.74), Dan Alley won the 200 IM (2:03.10), Chris Hepp won the 200 butterfly (2:07.04), Johnson Knox won the 100 freestyle (47.81), Timmy Berry won the 200 backstroke (1:58.77) and Evin Moses won the 500 freestyle (5:06.05).

 Mike Carman won a pair of events as the Bears beat Conn. College. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/30/09)--Ray Chassion, Jim Okorn and Mike Carman each won two events leading Coast Guard to a 201-91 win over neighbor rival and host Connecticut College.
Chaisson won the 1-meter (189.90) and the 3-meter (166.20) diving events, Okorn won the 50 freestyle (21.64) and the 100 freestyle (48.08) while Carman won the 100 breaststroke (1:00.12) and the 200 breaststroke (2:09.09) as the Bears improved to 7-2 on the season.
Also for Coast Guard, Alex Brown won the 1,000 freestyle (10:09.54), Bryan Andrews won the 200 freestyle (1:47.87), Dan Alley won the 200 butterfly (2:00.67), Brian McGuiness won the 500 freestyle (4:52.76), Timmy Berry won the 400 IM with a time of 4:19.71 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Johnson Knox, Okorn, Taylor Volkman and Dan Beshoar won with a time of 1:26.90. |

 Timmy Berry had an outstanding meet in the win over Merchant Marine to earn NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/26/09)--Coast Guard’s Timmy Berry has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Swimmer of the Week.
Berry had a huge meet against rival Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday as he set the pool record in the 100 backstroke, won the 200 backstroke and the 200 IM and was part of the 200 medley relay team which also set a pool record as Coast Guard handed the Mariners their first dual meet loss of the season 179-121 as the Bears improved to 6-2 in dual meets this season. |
