Women's Basketball - Martinelli Scores 33 in Loss at Mitchell

Melissa Martinelli had 33 points and 17 rebounds in the loss.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/16/09)--Junior Jennifer Iglesias had 29 points while sophomore Allison Peck added 20 points and the Mariners hit fourteen 3-pointers leading host Mitchell to its seventh straight win, a 67-52 victory over Coast Guard in a non-conference game between the two New London schools.

Peck had six 3-pointers while Iglesias finished with five treys. The Mariners shot 43.8 percent from 3-point range (14 for 32) including six of 10 from 3-point range in the second half.

Junior Melissa Martinelli was 14 for 22 from the floor and had a game-high 33 points and tied her season-high with 17 rebounds in the loss for Coast Guard (4-19) which dropped its fourth straight. It was Martinelli’s fourth game with 30 or more points this season.

Women's Basketball - Bears Lose Final Home Game
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/14/09)--Freshman Kathleen King led all scorers with 18 points to go with her game-high seven rebounds as Babson outscored Coast Guard 22-3 to end the first half enroute to a 76-47 win in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game to spoil Senior Day.

Coast Guard took a 19-18 lead on a basket by senior Chanel Lee with 5:56 left in the first half before Babson scored 22 of the final 25 points in the half. The Beavers used full court pressure late in the half and the Bears turned the ball over on six straight possessions and finished with 20 first half turnovers.

Women's Basketball - Clark Holds off Bears 70-63

Chanel Lee had a career-high 12 rebounds in the loss.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/11/09)--Junior Jillian Camilleri led five Clark players in double figures with 18 points and the Cougars were red hot making 11 of 23 from 3-point range to win their fourth straight holding off Coast Guard 70-63 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Senior Sarah Roderigue added 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds, senior Sara Hagstrom had 11 points and game-high nine assists while freshman Ivori Aiken and senior Nicole Levecque each added 10 points for Clark (11-11, 7-3).

The Cougars used a 10-2 in the first half turning a 19-17 lead with 12:07 left into a 29-19 lead with 7:02 left in the first half. Clark led 41-29 at halftime.

Women's Basketball - Wheaton Pulls Away Late for Win
NORTON, MASS.--(2/7/09)--The Wheaton College women's basketball team held a 30-2 advantage in points off of turnovers in handing visiting United States Coast Guard Academy a 51-35 loss in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon in Emerson Gymnasium.

Knocking off the Bears for the first time since the 2004-05 season, the Lyons raised their overall record to 12-9 and league mark to 6-3. Having its three-game winning streak snapped, Coast Guard slipped to 4-16 and 3-6 in the conference.
