NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/7/12)--Freshman Jamie Waterman had a career-high 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds and Coast Guard used a 10-0 second half run and held off WPI 55-54 for its first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win of the season.

Coast Guard snapped a five-game losing streak and evened its overall
record at 5-5 while improving to 1-5 in conference play. WPI dropped its fifth straight to fall to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the NEWMAC.
The Bears led 29-28 at halftime and scored ten straight in the second half turning a 32-32 tie into a 42-32 lead with 13:17 left. WPI answered with seven straight to make the score 42-39 with 10:24 remaining.
Senior Lauren Hannman’s layup tied the game 47-47 before sophomore Siena Mamayek’s only bucket of the game gave WPI a 49-47 lead with 5:25 to play. |

 Kaitlin Ward led the Bears with 11 points. BABSON PARK, MASS.--(1/4/12)--Babson College used a 36-6 run to pull away from the visiting United States Coast Guard Academy en route to a 79-34 win in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

With the victory, the Beavers, ranked 22nd in the nation by D3hoops.com, extended their league winning streak to 50 games while improving to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the NEWMAC. Meanwhile, the Bears dipped to 4-5 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Babson, which closed out the first half with a 13-4 run and then opened the second with a 23-2 burst, received a trio of double-doubles from its vaunted front court. |

 Brittney Zimmerman had a game-hgih 19 points in the loss. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/6/11)--Freshman Mari Kordell and junior Lauren Sascha Burton each had five of their ten points in overtime leading MIT to a 73-67 overtime win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

MIT had its largest lead of the game 58-47 with 5:53 left following an old fashion 3-point play by sophomore Rachel Hunt before the Bears scored 13 straight to take a 60-58 lead with just 33 seconds left.
Sophomore Tamara Pena’s jumper with eight seconds left tied the game at 60-60 and Coast Guard had a chance to win it in regulation, but the shot fell short.
Coast Guard had taken the lead 59-58 on a pair of free throws by sophomore Brittney Zimmerman with 1:04 left before Zimmerman made one of two from the foul line with 33 seconds left for the 60-58 advantage. |
