NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/19/11)--Sophomore Angelica Pascual recorded 15 points to boost Mount Holyoke to a 48-30 triumph over the Coast Guard Academy this evening.
The guard went 6-of-13 from the field and knocked down a pair of three-pointers, as the Lyons snapped a five game slide and picked up their second NEWMAC win of the season.
Ten players scored points for Mount Holyoke, which converted 38.5% (20-52) of its shots from the field. The Lyons’ defense limited the Bears to just 28.3% (13-46) shooting from the floor and turned 26 turnovers into 24 points at the other end. |

 Larla Brown had a double-double in the loss. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/15/11)--Nationally ranked Babson used a pair of 19-0 runs in the first half to beat Coast Guard 76-37 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Babson, ranked fourth nationally in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and seventh in the D3hoops.com Poll, improved to 14-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play. It was the 33rd straight NEWMAC win for the Beavers.
Coast Guard dropped its ninth straight to drop to 2-11 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
The Bears led 6-2 following a pair of free throws by sophomore Karli Collins with 16:42 left in the first half before the Beavers scored 19 straight for a 21-6 lead with 10:43 left. |

 Kaitlin Ward led the Bears with 16 points. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(1/13/11)--Kelly Slattery scored 14 points to lead her Springfield College women's basketball team to a 58-32 victory over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game this evening at SC's Blake Arena.
With the win, the Pride is now 5-9 overall, 5-2 in conference play. Coast Guard is 2-10 overall, 0-7 in the NEWMAC.
Of 11 Springfield College competitors who played tonight, 10 scored at least three points. The Pride forced 28 Coast Guard turnovers, and garnered 22 steals as a result. |

 Larla Brown had a team-high 18 points in the loss at Clark WORCESTER, MASS.-–(1/8/11)--Clark freshman Emily Reilly scored a career-high 26 points and the host Cougars raced past visiting Coast Guard 76-53 in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s basketball action.
Reilly scored 16 of her points in the second half, including nine straight during a pivotal 19-5 run that turned a four point lead into an 18 point bulge as the Cougars took control of the game.
Clark, who led by as many as 19 points in the first before settling for a 35-20 lead at the half, saw its advantage whittled down to 48-44 midway through the second half.
The Bears made their game-tightening run on the back of Larla Brown and Kaitlin Ward as that duo pounded the boards converting several tough hoops inside. |
