NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/6/07)--Senior Natalie Moyer led all scorers with 21 points while sophomore Melissa Martinelli had 18 points and a season-high 17 rebounds as Coast Guard beat Johnson & Wales 68-59 to improve to 6-1 on the season, the best start in school history.
Senior Corinne McCormack had a double-double for the Bears with 10 points and 14 rebounds while freshman Jennifer Tamminen had 16 points and nine rebounds for Coast Guard (6-1).
Coast Guard used a an 11-2 run in the first half to take its largest lead of the half, 28-16 with 7:31 left before Johnson & Wales closed the gap to five by scoring the final five points of the half making the score 34-29. |

MIDDLETOWN, CONN.--(12/4/07)--Sophomore Melissa Martinelli had 18 of her season-high 22 points in the second half and Coast Guard used a 14-0 run in the first half to snap a five-year losing streak against Wesleyan, beating the Cardinals 70-56 in a non-conference game.
Martinelli was a perfect six-for-six from the floor while knocking down six-of-seven from the foul line in the second half.

 Natalie Moyer earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors. (photo by Jeff Bartlett) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/3/07)--Coast Guard Academy senior Natalie Moyer has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
She averaged 20.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 3.3 steals per game as Coast Guard won two of three games during the week to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Moyer, who has led the NEWMAC in scoring and three-point field goals in each of the last two seasons, had a double-double to start the week as she finished with a game-high 22 points, including six three-pointers to go with a game-high 10 rebounds in a win over New England College. She then had a season-high 26 points, including nine of 10 from the foul line in a 62-61 win at WNEC as the Bears won their first four games for the first time since the 1997-’98 season. |

HARTFORD, CONN.--(12/1/07)--Sophomore forward Christine Card recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore guard Tess Donie scored a game-high 14 points to go along with five rebounds as Trinity handed Coast Guard its first loss of the season as the Bantams outscored the Bears 38-16 in the second half enroute to a 56-42 victory.
Coast Guard built an eight-point halftime lead, 26-18 before Trinity used a 20-6 spurt to start the second half taking 38-32 lead. |
