Women's Basketball - Bears Set Single-Season Record with 17th Win

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/9/08)--Senior Natalie Moyer had 23 points while sophomore Melissa Martinelli added 21 points as Coast Guard set the single-season school record for wins and handed Wheaton its first conference loss of the season, pulling into a first place tie in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with the Lyons as the Bears posted a 76-61 win.

Coast Guard, which made a season-high 11 three-point field goals and shot a season-high 44 percent (11-25) from 3-point range, and Wheaton are now tied for first in the conference with 8-1 records. The Bears, who won their third straight and now hold the tiebreaker over the Lyons, are now 17-3 overall while Wheaton, had its four-game winning streak snapped and drops to 15-6.

Women's Basketball - Davis Named to Academic All-District First team

DeCarol Davis was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team for the second straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/7/08)--Coast Guard senior guard DeCarol Davis has been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I college division women’s basketball first team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Davis, who has started 15 games this season, is ranked first in the senior class of 226 cadets as she carries a 3.96 GPA in Electrical Engineering. She is averaging 8.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for Coast Guard which has already tied the single-season record for wins with 16 as the team is 16-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

Women's Basketball - Moyer Becomes All-Time Leading Scorer in 16th Win

NORTHAMPTON, MASS.--(2/6/08)--Senior Natalie Moyer had 12 points and became the Bears' all-time leading scorer as Coast Guard tied a school record with its 16th win by outscoring Smith 34-15 in the second half enroute to a 52-34 win in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Sophomore Melissa Martinelli had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds while senior Corinne McCormack added 10 points for the Bears (16-3, 7-1).

Women's Basketball - Moyer Ties All-Time Scoring Record in Win

Natalie Moyer tied the Bears' all-time scoring record with 1,444 points.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/5/08)--Sophomore Melissa Martinelli scored 11 straight points and 15 of the Bears first 18 points in the second half as Coast Guard rallied from an eight-point deficit and beat rival and host Conn. College 66-51 in a non-conference game.

Senior Natalie Moyer added 18 points and tied Lis Bosma (’05) as Coast Guard’s all-time leading scorer with 1,444 points.

Conn. College built a 41-33 lead with 17:32 left in the game and led 44-38 before Martinelli scored 11 straight points, starting a 14-0 Coast Guard run which was capped by a Moyer 3-pointer, giving the Bears a 52-44 lead with 8:21 left.
