 Melissa Martinelli had 18 points in the loss to Springfield. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/13/10)--Springfield jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never trailed beating Coast Guard 53-38 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Coast Guard pulled to within 10-9 with 11:14 left before Springfield used a 10-2 run capped by a 3-pointer by sophomore Kelly Murphy to take a 20-11 lead with 6:01 left. The Pride led 26-16 at halftime.
Springfield (6-8, 4-3) used a 14-2 run in the second half to put the game away as the Pride turned a 30-20 edge with 16:23 left into a 44-22 lead with 10:29 left in the game. The final five of those points by junior Rachelle Walker. |

NORTHAMPTON, MASS.--(1/11/09)--Coast Guard was held to a season-low 28 points and Smith used a 20-1 run to beat the Bears 49-28 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Coast Guard led 11-9 with 12 minutes to go in the first half, but Smith outscored the Bears 14-1 over the final 12 minutes for a 23-12 halftime lead.
Smith then scored the first six points of the second to complete the 20-1 spurt to take a 29-12 lead.
Senior Melissa Martinelli's basket with 13:56 ended the Bears drought of over 18 minutes without a field goal.
Martinelli led the Bears with nine points and a season-low three rebounds before fouling out.
Coast Guard (4-4, 3-2) shot 25 percent from the floor (9-36).
Berit Schelde led Smith (6-4, 3-2) with a game-high 11 points.

 Carin Sweeney was outstanding with career-highs of 14 rebounds, six assists and five steals in the win. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/9/10)--Senior Melissa Martinelli had a game-high 24 points and tied a season-high with 11 rebounds as Coast Guard beat Clark 61-58 in overtime in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Coast Guard (4-4, 3-2) had a 42-30 lead with 10:44 left before Clark used a 20-8 spurt to tie the game at 50-50 on a pair of free throws by senior Jillian Camilleri with 33 seconds left in regulation.
The Bears turned the ball over after the free throws and Clark sophomore Ivori Aiken missed a jumper from the foul line as time expired to send the game to overtime.
Camilleri scored the first bucket in overtime for a 52-50 lead before junior Jessica Anderson hit a 3-pointer giving the Bears a 53-52 lead. Aiken hit a 3-pointer to give Clark a 55-53 edge with 3:36 left. |

 Jessica Anderson had a season-high 10 points in the loss. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/6/10)--WPI jumped out to a 14-2 lead and never looked back beating Coast Guard 50-39 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
WPI (8-4, 4-1) dominated the first ten minutes taking a 14-2 lead with 10:34 left in the first half. The Engineers led 23-14 at halftime.
Coast Guard (3-4, 2-2) rallied in the second half as the Bears used an 11-4 spurt to cut the deficit to 33-29 with 8:07 left with senior Melissa Martinelli scoring six of those points. Martinelli, who leads the NEWMAC in scoring with 18.1 points per game, was held to just two points in the first half, but finished with a game-high 15 points to go with nine rebounds. |
