KINGS POINT, N.Y.--(1/30/08)--Senior Natalie Moyer had 19 points while classmate DeCarol Davis added a season-high 17 points as Coast Guard won its single-season school-record seventh straight beating rival Merchant Marine 64-54 in a non-conference game.

Coast Guard is off to its best start ever at the Bears improve to 14-2 overall. The Bears won their third straight road game and improved to 9-1 on the road this season.

Women's Basketball - Martinelli, Moyer Combine for 62 in 2 OT Win

WORCESTER, MASS.--(1/26/08)--Sophomore Melissa Martinelli had a career-high 32 points to go with 15 rebounds while senior Natalie Moyer added a season-high 30 points as Coast Guard won its sixth straight by posting a thrilling 86-76 double overtime win at Clark in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Coast Guard improves to 13-2 overall and remains unbeaten at 6-0 and in first place in the conference.

Clark's Sarah Roderigue scored a season-high 28 points in the loss. Sara Hagstrom added 11 points with six assists for the Cougars.

Women's Basketball - Bears Run Win Streak to Five

SOUTH HADLEY, MASS.--(1/23/08)--Sophomore Melissa Martinelli piled up game-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds to propel Coast Guard to a 66-46 win over New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College. It was the Bears fifth straight win and first over the Lyons since the 2003-04 campaign.

Coast Guard is now 12-2 overall and in first place with a 5-0 record in NEWMAC play.

Three players reached double digits in the scoring column for Coast Guard, which shot 43.1% (22-51) from the floor and 76.5% (13-17) from the charity stripe. The Bears controlled the glass, outrebounding the hosts 39-25. They drained nine shots from beyond the arc. Senior Corinne McCormack finished with 13 points and seven boards, while senior guard Natalie Moyer added ten points, six rebounds and a game-best four steals. Coast Guard also received a boost from senior guard DeCarol Davis, who contributed nine points, seven boards and a season-high seven assists.

Women's Basketball - Martinelli earns NEWMAC Player of the Week Honors

Melissa Martinelli earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/21/08)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Melissa Martinelli was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week as the Bears won two games to improve to 11-2 overall and remain unbeaten improving to 4-0 in league play.

Martinelli averaged 23 points and 6.5 rebounds as the Bears won at Springfield and at home against Wellesley. She shot 58.1 percent from the field (18-31) while making 10 of 13 from the foul line. Her best game was 25 point performance in the win at Springfield. This is the second time this season that Martinelli has been named NEWMAC Player of the Week.
