BABSON PARK, MASS.--(1/4/12)--Babson College used a 36-6 run to pull away from the visiting United States Coast Guard Academy en route to a 79-34 win in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

With the victory, the Beavers, ranked 22nd in the nation by D3hoops.com, extended their league winning streak to 50 games while improving to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the NEWMAC. Meanwhile, the Bears dipped to 4-5 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Babson, which closed out the first half with a 13-4 run and then opened the second with a 23-2 burst, received a trio of double-doubles from its vaunted front court.

Women's Basketball - Bears Drop Fourth Straight

Kaitlin Ward had a game-high 19 points.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/8/11)--Senior Ellie Giles had 14 points and seven rebounds and Smith scored the final ten points of the game as the Pioneers beat Coast Guard 57-42 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Smith improves to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play while Coast Guard drops its fourth straight to drop to 4-4 overall and 0-4 in the NEWMAC

Coast Guard trailed 47-42 following a basket by sophomore Kaitlin Ward with 5:03 left, but that would be the Bears final points of the game as Smith scored the final ten including back-to-back buckets by Giles to start the run.

Women's Basketball - Bears Fall in OT

Brittney Zimmerman had a game-hgih 19 points in the loss.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/6/11)--Freshman Mari Kordell and junior Lauren Sascha Burton each had five of their ten points in overtime leading MIT to a 73-67 overtime win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

BOX SCORE

MIT had its largest lead of the game 58-47 with 5:53 left following an old fashion 3-point play by sophomore Rachel Hunt before the Bears scored 13 straight to take a 60-58 lead with just 33 seconds left.

Sophomore Tamara Pena’s jumper with eight seconds left tied the game at 60-60 and Coast Guard had a chance to win it in regulation, but the shot fell short.

Coast Guard had taken the lead 59-58 on a pair of free throws by sophomore Brittney Zimmerman with 1:04 left before Zimmerman made one of two from the foul line with 33 seconds left for the 60-58 advantage.

Women's Basketball - Clark Rallies to Beat Bears

Jamie Waterman registered her first career double-double for the Bears.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(12/3/11)--Down by as many as ten points in the second half, host Clark University rallied for a thrilling 65-64 win over Coast Guard in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.

With the win, the Cougars extend their winning streak to four games and improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Bears drop their second straight to slip to 4-2 as well but 0-2 in conference action.

In a game that featured 22 lead changes and ten ties, Kate Minister converted an inside hoop with seven seconds left to give Clark a one point advantage. The Bears raced down court looking for the go ahead basket, but the Cougars drew an offensive foul with two seconds left to secure the win.
