(photo by Jeff Bartlett) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/25/08)--Coast Guard Academy senior Natalie Moyer, the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Year, has been named to the ECAC Division III New England Women's Basketball All-Star second team.
Moyer, a fourth team All-America by Women’s DIII News, is also an honorable mention All-America by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). She finished her brilliant career with a school-record 1,640 points. Moyer is also the Coast Guard all-time leader in 3-pointers (259), steals (234) and games played (107). She set the single-season record with 95 steals this season while averaging 16.9 points and she also led the conference with 84 three-pointers.
Coast Guard won the program’s first ever ECAC Division III New England Championship as the Bears won a school-record 25 games, finishing 25-5. The senior class leaves with a school-record 63 wins in the last four seasons. |

 Melissa Martinelli earned first team All-region honors. (photo by Jeff Bartlett) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/19/08)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Melissa Martinelli and senior Natalie Moyer, who led the Bears to the ECAC New England Division III Championship, were named to the D3hoops.com All-Northeast region team as voted on by the sports information directors in the region. Martinelli was named to the first team while Moyer earned third team honors.
Martinelli, who was the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year last season, earned first team All-conference honors for the first time this season. She led the team in scoring (17.1), rebounding (8.3) and field goal percentage (55.9 percent). She was named NEWMAC Player of the Week three times this season and was named to the D3hoops.com National team of the week on a separate occasion. Martinelli earns All-region honors for the first time in her career and becomes the first Coast Guard player to be named to the first team. |

Moyer, the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Year, led the Bears to a school-record 25 wins, a 25-5 record and the program’s first ever ECAC New England Championship. Coast Guard, which had never won a postseason game, entering the season, was making its second postseason appearance. |
