 Jevon James had 19 points in the final game of his career. WORCESTER, MASS.--(2/26/11)--WPI, ranked 12th nationally, used a 12-3 run late in the game as the top-seeded and host Engineers beat fifth-seeded Coast Guard 62-51 in the semifinals of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament.
The Engineers improve to 22-4 overall while the Bears finish the season 11-14.
Senior Jevon James pulled the Bears to within two at 48-46 with 6:30 left, but Coast would only score one more hoop the rest of the way, a bucket by James with 19 seconds left. WPI scored six straight to push the lead to 54-46 with 2:37 left and the Engineers were a perfect six-for-six from the foul line in the final 44 seconds to wrap up the game. |

 Jevon James had a game-high 20 points to lead the Bears past Babson. BABSON PARK, MASS.--(2/23/11)--Senior Jevon James led all scorers with 20 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds off the bench and the fifth-seeded Bears overcame a 14-point first half deficit and beat fourth-seeded Babson 62-53 in the first round of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament.
The Bears improve to 11-13 overall and will take on top-seed and host WPI on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the semifinals.
Coast Guard used that 15-4 spurt to start the second half turning a six-point deficit at the break into a 42-37 lead with 12:36 left. The Bears took their first lead of the game 36-35 on a 3-pointer by sophomore Greg Marshall with 14:25 left and the run was capped on a pair of free throws by sophomore Jimmy Knudsen.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/21/11)--Senior Jevon James had a huge second half as the Bears rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Wheaton on Saturday earning him New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
James registered his seventh double-double of the season as Coast Guard erased a 45-30 first half deficit an overcame an 11 point halftime margin to beat Wheaton 68-65 and clinch the fifth and final NEWMAC tournament berth in the Bears only game of the week.
He finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, with 11 points and nine boards in the second half. He was 5 for 9 from the floor and a perfect 5 for 5 from the foul line. He also led the team with two blocks and two steals. |

NORTON, MASS.--(2/19/11)--Freshman Kevin Sowers had a game-high 19 points while senior Jevon James had a big second half and finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds as Coast Guard rallied from a 15-point first half deficit to beat Wheaton 68-65 and clinch a spot in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament.
James had 11 points and nine rebounds in the second half to register his seventh double-double of the season and 19th of his career as the Bears shot 56 percent in the second half (14-25) in the regular season finale after shooting just 25 percent (7-28) in the first half.
With the win and a Clark loss to WPI, Coast Guard (10-13, 5-7) locked up the fifth-seed for the NEWMAC tournament. The Bears will play at fourth-seeded Babson on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. |
