WORCESTER, MASS.--(3/1/08)--Coast Guard’s all-time leading scorer Jeff Prebeck had a season-high 26 points while junior Craig Johnson added 23 points as third-seeded and defending New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament champion Coast Guard won its ninth straight and advanced to the championship game with a 68-56 win over seventh-seeded Wheaton in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals at WPI.
Prebeck, who was held scoreless for the first time in his career in the Bears first round win over MIT on Wednesday, and Coast Guard will take on top-seeded WPI in the championship game on Sunday at noon. WPI beat fourth-seeded Babson 60-59 in the first semifinal of the day. |

 Al Sowers led the way with 18 points. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/27/08)--Senior Al Sowers had a game-high 18 points while junior Craig Johnson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as third-seeded and defending New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament champion Coast Guard held sixth-seeded MIT to a season-low 44 points in a 58-44 win in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament.
Coast Guard (19-6) advances to the semifinals and will take on seventh-seeded Wheaton at top-seeded WPI on Saturday at 3 p.m. The championship game will be at WPI on Sunday at noon. WPI will host fourth-seeded Babson in the first semifinal on Saturday at 1 p.m. |

(photo by Jeff Bartlett) SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/23/08)--Senior Grant Johnson had a season-high 22 points while classmate Al Sowers had 14 of his 20 points in the first half as Coast Guard won its seventh straight and earned a home game in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament with a 69-61 win over Springfield in the regular season finale for both teams.
Coast Guard (18-6, 7-5), the defending NEWMAC tournament champions, will be the third-seed and host sixth-seeded MIT in the NEWMAC tournament on Wednesday night at a time be determined. |

(photo by Jeff Bartlett) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/21/08)--Sophomore Eric Hudson had a season-high 13 points while senior Grant Johnson led all scorers with 16 points as Coast Guard won its sixth straight beating Johnson & Wales 86-60 in a non-conference game on Senior Night.
Johnson & Wales (15-10) led 12-11 with 13:49 left in the first half when the Bears took control of the game with a 16-4 run started on back-to-back 3-pointers by senior Al Sowers and sophomore Stefan Lewis to take a 27-16 lead with 9:37 left in the first half. Coast Guard led 45-30 at halftime. |
