NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/8/12)--Junior Greg Marshall had a game-high 22 points and sophomore John Benedict had a season-high 17 points and did not miss a field goal leading Coast Guard to a 91-81 overtime win over Clark in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Coast Guard snaps a three-game losing streak and keeps its NEWMAC tournament hopes alive with a win improving to 8-12 overall and 2-8 in conference play while Clark drops to 10-11 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
Benedict, who was a perfect seven for seven from the field, made a free throw to open the scoring in overtime before Marshall nailed a three-pointer giving the Bears a 79-75 lead with 4:08 left in the extra session.
Sophomore Kevin Sowers, who finished with 15 points and a game-high five assists, scored a bucket with 55 seconds pushing the lead to 86-80 and the Bears held on for the win. |

 Kevin Sowers led the way with 14 points and six assists. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/4/12)--Senior Matt Carr had a game-high 25 points while freshman Sam Longwell had 15 of his career-high 18 points in the first half leading WPI to a 82-76 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
BOX SCORE
WPI shot 62.5 percent from the floor in the second half (15-24) and finished 32-56 from the field (57.1 percent) while making seven of 17 from three-point range.
Carr was 12 of 15 from the floor while Longwell did most of his damage from behind the arc, hitting five of ten from three-point range while leading the team with four assists.
Sophomore Ryan Kolb added 11 points and along with Carr led the team with eight rebounds each while freshman Marco Coppola and added ten points in the win.
WPI improves to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play while the Bears drop to 7-12 overall and 1-8 in the NEWMAC. |

 Greg Marshall led Coast Guard with 18 points. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/1/12)--Senior Alex Berthiaume had 17 of his game-high 28 points in the first half leading Springfield to a hard fought 72-63 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Springfield improves to 14-6 overall and 6-2 in league play while the Bears drop to 7-11 overall and 1-7 in the NEWMAC.
Berthiaume had eight points in the first six minutes as Springfield led 15-8 with 14:09 left in the first half. The Pride led 22-13 following a trey by Berthiaume with 10:01 left before the Bears went on a 13-2 run taking their first lead of the game 26-24 on a bucket by sophomore Kevin Sowers with 3:59 left in the first half to end the run. |

 David Anderson led the Bears with 12 points. CAMBRIDGE, MASS.--(1/28/12)--Sixth-ranked MIT scored the game’s first 10 points and cruised to an 80-55 win over visiting Coast Guard in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)game.

With the win, the Engineers improve to 18-1 and 6-1 in league play. The Bears fall to 7-10 and are 1-6 in the NEWMAC.
Junior Mitchell Kates and senior Noel Hollingsworth led the way for Tech, with Kates scoring 21 points to go along with four assists. Hollingsworth picked up a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Jamie Karraker connected on five shots from three-point range for 15 points.
David Anderson was Coast Guard’s leading scorer with 12 points while junior captain Greg Marshall was also in double-figures with 10.
