 Greg Marshall led the Bears with 13 points. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/6/10)--Sophomore Brian Vayda led all scorers with 22 points while senior Mark Alexander added 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds leading Clark to a 67-50 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Clark (12-9, 3-5) outscored the Bears 11-1 over the first five minutes of the second half turning a 30-22 halftime lead into a 41-23 lead with 15:49 left in the game.
Coast Guard (7-12, 4-5) got as close as 11 at 46-35 following a 3-pointer by freshman Ed Gailor with 9:51 left. Clark led 50-38 with 8:41 left and then scored 11 straight to take its largest lead of the game 61-38 with 5:09 left.
The Cougars used an 8-0 first half run to open its largest lead of the half 19-8 with 10:32 left. |

 Stefan Lewis knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to get the Bears back in the game. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(2/3/10)--Coast Guard rallied from a 12-point deficit with just over seven minutes left, but fell to Springfield 58-56 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Senior Stefan Lewis knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers, his only points of the game, the second with 1:07 left as the Bears cut the deficit to 57-56.
Pat Crean made one of two free throws for Springfield with 23.2 seconds for a 58-56 lead and Coast Guard had three chances in the final seconds, but came up empty. Lewis missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer, freshman Ed Gailor missed a put back and the ball went out of bounds off Springfield with 0.1 seconds left. Lewis lofted a perfect pass to junior Jevon James on the inbounds pass, but James’ tip went off the rim as the buzzer sounded. |

 Eric Hudson has a huge second half in the come-from-behind win. BABSON PARK, MASS.--(1/30/10)--Senior Eric Hudson had 11 of his game-high 15 points in the second half and a trio of freshmen led a key 9-0 run late in the second half as Coast Guard battled back from a seven-point halftime deficit to beat Babson 62-55 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Coast Guard shot 60 percent in the second half (15-25) with junior Jevon James having nine of his 11 points in the half.
Babson (9-10, 2-5) led 46-41 following a 3-pointer by Matt Florio with 8:15 left in the game before the Bears scored nine straight to take a 50-46 lead with 5:20 left. A trio of freshman, Jimmy Knudsen, Ed Gailor and Greg Marshall accounted for the final three hoops of the run. Knudsen and Gailor had back-to-back steals and layups before Marshall capped the run on a 3-pointer. |

 Eric Hudson led the Bears with 14 points. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/27/10)--Brown University transfer sophomore Noel Hollingsworth led all scorers with 25 points leading No. 14 MIT to a 78-58 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
MIT (17-2, 5-1) was red hot from the floor shooting 59.3 percent in the first half while making eight of 12 from 3-point range (66.7 percent) and led 45-37 at the break. The Engineers shot 56.3 percent for the game (27-48) while making 11 of 23 from 3-point range led by a four for five performance from senior Billy Johnson, who finished with 12 points. |
