Men's Basketball - Wheaton Rallies from 20 Down, but Bears Win

NORTON, MASS.--(1/20/10)--Junior Jevon James had a season-high 20 points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds as Coast Guard squandered a 20 point second half lead, but came back to beat Wheaton 80-76 in a wild New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

The Bears (6-9, 3-2) are off to their best start in conference play in ten years. Coast Guard began the 1999-2000 season with a 6-2 record in NEWMAC play.

Coast Guard scored nine straight and 15 of the final 21 points in the first half to build a 46-31 lead at the break behind 14 points from freshman Greg Marshall. Coast Guard had its largest lead of the half at 46-29 following a 3-pointer by Marshall with 26 seconds left.

Junior Adam Radtke buried a 3-pointer with 18:06 left in the game as the Bears took their largest lead of the night 53-33 and appeared to be in control.

Men's Basketball - Bears Lose at WPI

Brett Huntley tied a season-high with 16 points in the loss.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(1/16/10)--WPI used a 16-0 first half run en route to a 68-55 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

WPI (12-3, 1-2), the six-time defending NEWMAC regular season champions, won their first conference game of the season after dropping their first two NEWMAC games of the year. Coast Guard drops to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Jeffrey Robinson led WPI with 16 points, 13 of those in the first half while Fernando Perez added 12 points and to go with six rebounds in the win.

The game was tied 10-10 with 13:48 left in first half when the Engineers took control with a 16-0 run taking a 26-10 lead with 7:44 left.

Men's Basketball - Marshall Leads Bears Past Babson

Greg Marshall had a career-high 20 points in the win.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/13/10)--Freshman Greg Marshall led all scorers with a career-high 20 points as Coast Guard beat Babson 69-61 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Junior Jevon James recorded his sixth double-double of the season as he finished with 18 points and a game-highs with 10 rebounds and four blocks. Freshman Ed Gailor added a career-high 12 points in the win while Marshall also had eight rebounds.

The game was tied 30-30 at halftime.

Coast Guard (5-8, 2-1) used an 11-2 run in the second half to take control of the game turning a 43-43 tie with 11:14 left into a 54-45 advantage with 7:08 left.

Men's Basketball - Bears Drop Thriller at Conn. College

Jevon James had his fifth double-double of the season in the loss.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/11/10)--Connecticut College squandered a 13-point lead before sophomore Demetrius Porter’s basket with 55 seconds left gave the Camels the lead for good in a 64-61 win over neighboring rival Coast Guard in a non-conference game between the two city schools at Conn. College's Luce Fieldhouse.

Coast Guard (4-8) took its first lead of the game 52-51 on a pair of free throws from junior Jevon James with 4:42 left.

Freshman Ed Gailor sank a 3-pointer with 3:27 left to break a 54-54 tie and give the Bears a 57-54 lead.

Junior Dean Lampe, who led the Camels with 20 points, scored with 2:18 left to cut the deficit to 57-56.

Coast Guard shot itself in the foot missing three straight free throws with a chance to increase the lead before the Porter hoop. The Bears were just three of eight from the line in the second half and six for 12 in the game.
