 Jeff Prebeck was named NEWMAC Co-Player of the Week. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/4/06)--Coast Guard Academy junior forward Jeff Prebeck has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Prebeck averaged 21.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Coast Guard. He notched 16 points and 16 rebounds as the Bears defeated previously undefeated Roger Williams 68-57. He followed that performance up by tallying 27 points and 11 rebounds in a 67-58 road victory over Johnson & Wales. He added five assists on the week as the Bears improved to 4-1 this season. |

 Jeff Prebeck had a season-high 27 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the Bears. PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(11/29/06)--Junior co-captain Al Sowers scored 10 straight points highlighting a 24-4 run late in the first half that turned a 36-20 deficit into a 44-40 lead and Coast Guard went on to win its fourth straight 77-68 over Johnson & Wales in a non conference game.
Johnson & Wales jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game. The Wildcats later used an 8-0 run to take their biggest lead of the half, 36-20 with 6:31 left.
Coast Guard responded with nine straight points and used a 24-4 run which included 10 straight points by Sowers to take a 44-40 lead with 14.2 seconds left. |

 Al Sowers led the Bears with 18 points and seven assists. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/28/06)--Coast Guard outscored Roger Williams 18-2 over the final 5:15 of the first half turning a 28-17 deficit into a 35-30 lead and the Bears never looked back handing the Hawks their first loss of the season 68-57 in a non-conference game.
Coast Guard led 50-44 with 9:30 left in the game before using a 12-2 spurt taking a 62-46 lead and putting the game out of reach.
Junior co-captain Al Sowers led four Bears in double figures with 18 points to go with seven assists while junior Jeff Prebeck had 16 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. Junior Grant Johnson added 16 points while freshman Eric Hudson had season-highs with 11 points and five assists as Coast Guard (3-1) won its third straight. |

 Justin Church led the Bears with a career-high 17 points. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/25/06)--Sophomore Justin Church led four Coast Guard players in double figures with a career-high 17 points and Coast Guard scored 21 straight points using a 34-4 second half run to beat Albertus Magnus 88-49 in a non-conference game.
Coast Guard (2-1) used a 11-2 first half run capped by a pair of free throws by junior co-captain Al Sowers to take a 30-17 lead with 4:48 left in the first half. The Bears led 40-27 at the break. |
