Men's Basketball - Citizens Bank Classic Tips Tonight
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/2/11)--Coast Guard and Connecticut College will co-host the Second Annual Citizens Bank Camel/Cadet Classic tonight and tomorrow.

Image“Citizens Bank is proud to sponsor the Camel/Cadet Basketball tournament and we look forward to an exciting weekend of basketball,” said Ned Handy, President of Citizens Bank for Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The tournament begins at the Luce Fieldhouse at Conn. College tonight with the Camels taking on SUNY Maritime at 6:00 before Coast Guard battles Montclair State at 8:00.

On Saturday at Coast Guard, the consolation game will be played at 2:00 and the championship game at 4:00.

All four games are free of charge and include free parking at both sites.

Men's Basketball - Bears Beat Rival Merchant Marine

Ed Gailor made 10 of 11 free throws down the stretch to lead the Bears to their fourth straight win.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/29/11)--Junior Ed Gailor was 10 for 11 from the foul line in the final 2:36 as the Bears made 15 of 16 from the line in that span leading Coast Guard to its fourth straight win, an 85-77 victory over rival Merchant Marine in non-conference game.

Senior Kevin Kerr hit a 3-pointer to give Merchant Marine a 71-70 lead with 2:56 left, but the Bears outscored the Mariners 15-6 the rest of the way, with all their points coming from the foul line.

Gailor made a pair of freebies with 2:36 left to give the Bears the lead for good 72-71.

Sophomore John Benedict made two from the line before sophomore Reed Buck made one-of-two for the Mariners making the score 74-72 with 1:43 left.

Sophomore Kevin Sowers made a pair of free throws with 1:11 left to extend the lead to 76-72.

Men's Basketball - Bears Run Win Streak to Three

Kevin Sowers had a season-high 16 points in the win.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/22/11)--Freshman David Anderson had 15 of his game-high 21 points in the second half leading host Coast Guard to an 87-69 win over Mitchell in a non-conference game between the two New London schools.

Coast Guard ran its winning streak to three improving to 3-1 on the season while Mitchell dropped to 2-2.

Junior Greg Marshall had 17 points while sophomore Kevin Sowers added a season-high 16 points in the win as the Bears shot a season-best 55.6 percent from the field (35-63). Coast Guard was six for 15 from 3-point range.

Anderson was 8 for 11 from the floor, Sowers was 7 for 10 while Marshall finished 6 for 12 shooting.

Men's Basketball - Rodriguez Leads Bears to Victory

David Anderson had 16 points and eight rebounds to earn a spot on the All-tournament team.
HAVERFORD, PA.--(11/19/11)--Freshman Ricky Rodriguez sank five 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 20 points off the bench leading Coast Guard to a 77-74 win over Swarthmore at the 20th Annual Equinox Classic.

The Bears were the only team to win both games over the weekend improving to 2-1 on the season.

Rodriguez hit five of nine from behind the arc while freshman David Anderson had 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds and earned a spot on the All-tournament team.

Sophomore Devonte Weems added 12 points to go with four steals and junior Jimmy Knudsen finished with ten points for the Bears. Junior Greg Marshall, who had a career-high 28 points in the win over Haverford on Friday, was held to just five points and earned a spot on the All-tournament team.
