The Coast Guard volleyball team is involved in one of five plays that has been nominated as the Volleyball Market/AVCA National Play of the Week.
The play is from home match vs. Wellesley on Sept. 22nd, Voting is open until Tuesday, Oct. 6th at 11 a.m. (EST).

 Lauren Block had 19 kills and eights digs in the loss. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/29/09)--Senior Barden Cleeland had 15 kills and eight blocks while classmate Alex May had 12 kills and 13 digs as MIT ended Coast Guard’s home winning streak at 25 and handed the Bears their first loss of the season in a five game thriller, 3-2 (14-25, 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 15-13) in the battle of New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) unbeatens.
Junior Jenny Li added 12 kills for the Engineers (12-4, 4-0), freshman Katie Spielbauer had 12 digs while senior Katrina Ellison and freshman Alyssa Rothman, who had 50 assists, each added eight digs for MIT.
The Bears jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first game and MIT would get as close as three at 9-6 before Coast Guard scored seven of the next nine points for a 15-8 advantage and won 25-14. |

 Kiley Johnson led the Bears with 13 digs in the win over Bay Path. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/26/09)--Coast Guard, ranked sixth in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) poll, ran its home winning streak to 25 and remained unbeaten by sweeping a pair of matches. The Bears beat Lesley 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-19) and Bay Path 3-0 (25-3, 25-10, 25-8).
Coast Guard (11-0) has now won 25 straight home matches dating back to the 2007 season and the Bears are off to their best start since 1997 when the team also started 11-0. The school-record for most wins to start a season is 16 set in 1995. |

 Hillary Adams led a balanced Coast Guard attack with five blocks as the Bears remained unbeaten. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/22/09)--Freshman Keriann Mason had eight kills, five blocks and 17 digs while classmate Lauren Bloch had eight kills and 12 digs as Coast Guard, ranked sixth in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) poll, remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-20, 25-21) over Wellesley in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
Coast Guard extended its home court winning streak to 23 dating back to the 2007 season and improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The nine straight wins to start the season matches the Bears best start since winning the first nine matches of the 2004 season. |
