NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/18/07)--Junior All-America Nicole Gurr had 13 kills, nine digs and three blocks while sophomore Carin Sweeney added seven kills, eight digs, three aces and three blocks as defending New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) champion Coast Guard won its 16th straight regular season home match against conference opponents and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 (30-12, 30-18, 30-15) win over Babson, which suffered its first conference loss of the season.
The Bears, who have now won 13 straight NEWMAC matches dating back to last season, jumped out to a 9-1 lead in game one and cruised to the 30-12 win. |

 Nicole Gurr led the Bears with 15 kills and 10 digs in the win. PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(9/13/07)--Junior All-America Nicole Gurr led the way with 15 kills and 10 digs as Coast Guard beat Johnson & Wales 3-0 (30-10, 30-22, 30-28) in a non-conference match at the Harborside Recreation Center.
Senior Anne Staley notched 19 set assists and two blocks while senior Corinne McCormack chipped in with nine kills and five digs in the victory for the Bears (3-2). |

 Junior Mary Bitzer had a career-high 13 kills as the Bears won their NEWMAC opener. SOUTH HADLEY, MASS.--(9/11/07)--Junior All-America Nicole Gurr registered 17 kills, nine digs and three blocks while junior Mary Bitzer added a career-high 13 kills to lead the defending New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season and tournament champion, Coast Guard, to a 3-0 (30-15, 31-29, 30-16) win over Mount Holyoke in the NEWMAC opener for both teams.
After breezing to a 30-15 win in the first game, the Bears fought off an aggressive comeback by the hosts to grab a 31-29 triumph in the second game. From there, Coast Guard cruised, taking the third and final game by a score of 30-16. |
