 Nicole Gurr led the way with 17 Kills NEW LONDON, CONN.--Sophomore Nicole Gurr had a game-high 17 kills as top-seeded Coast Guard won its school record 17th straight beating eighth-seeded Babson 3-0 (30-14, 30-12, 30-20) in the first round of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Tournament.
Coast Guard scored 16 of the final 20 points in game one turning a 14-10 lead into a 30-14 win and then jumped out to a 15-2 lead in game two and cruised to a 30-12 win before closing out the match 30-20 in game three. |

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/30/06)--Coast Guard Academy junior Corinne McCormack has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Player of the Week as she led the Bears to the NEWMAC regular season championship for the second time in three years.
McCormack hit 32 percent and totaled 37 kills, 18 digs, six blocks and six aces as the Bears swept Clark and Wellesley to win their second NEWMAC regular season championship. The Bears also won the regular season championship in 2004. |

 Junior Corinne McCormack led the Bears with 21 kills NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/28/06)--Junior Corinne McCormack had a game-high 21 kills as Coast Guard, ranked first in New England, beat Wellesley 3-0 (31-29, 30-21, 30-22) to win the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season championship, the Bears second regular season title in the past three years.
Senior co-captain Christine Rostowfske ended a thrilling first game with an ace giving the Bears a 31-29 win. The first game was tied at 27, 28 and 29 before the Bears scored the final two points for the win. |

Game scores were 25-30, 9-30 and 15-30. |
