NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/8/07)--Coast Guard, ranked 25th nationally, opened its home portion of the schedule by splitting a pair of matches beating rival Merchant Marine 3-0 (30-19, 30-12, 30-21) before falling to #23 Stevens Tech (25-30, 30-23, 30-28, 25-30, 18-16).
In the thrilling second match of the afternoon, the Bears forced a fifth game with a 30-25 win and the Bears jumped out to an 8-5 lead in the decisive game five before the Ducks rallied to tie the match 11-11. The game was tied at 13 and 14 before the Bears took a 15-14 lead and had match point. |

 Junior All-America Nicole Gurr led the Bears with 14 kills. WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.--(9/7/07)--Williams opened the 2007 season by knocking off # 25 Coast Guard 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-28).
The Ephs, who were 25-7 last season including a perfect 10-0 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), ended the Bears 16-match regular season unbeaten streak. |

 Senior tri-captain Megan Durbin and the Bears open the season Sept. 7th at Williams. Coast Guard is coming off the greatest season in the history of the program as the Bears went 26-3, won the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season and tournament championships and advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
First year head coach Rob Mullowney takes over a team that returns junior All-America tri-captain and middle blocker Nicole Gurr, senior tri-captain and right side hitter Corinne McCormack, a first team All-New England selection and eight other letterwinners that were part of last season’s success. |

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(8/23/07)--The Coast Guard Academy volleyball team which advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time in the history of the program last year, is ranked 25th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll.
Last season, the Bears won the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season championship for the second time in three years and won their first ever NEWMAC tournament championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It was their fourth trip (1995, 1996, 1997, 2006) to the NCAA Tournament and first since 1997. |
