Women's Soccer - Bears Visit with Former U.S. National team coach

Liz Kenis sang the national anthem before the Boston Breakers game.
Prior to the 2010 season, the Coast Guard women's soccer team had the opportunity watch the Boston Breakers take on the Atlanta Beat.

It was memorable day for the team as sophomore Liz Kenis sang the national anthem before the game,and the team got to meet with former National team coach and current Breakers coach Tony DiCicco.

Women's Soccer - Springfield Blanks Bears in NEWMAC Opener
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(9/18/10)--Springfield broke open a scoreless game as it found the back of the net twice in the opening 3:31 of the second half enroute to a 5-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest.

Springfield snapped its two game slide to even its record at 3-3, 1-0 in league play, while the Bears drop to 3-3, 0-1 this year.

The Pride's Ashley McFarlane put Springfield on the board just 1:03 into the second half as she finished a centering pass from Sara Dalton. Dalton found the back of the net herself just 2:29 later she she corralled a Katie Mantie cross and ripped a shot from close range for Springfield's second tally.

Mantie then scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon at the 66:05 mark as she buried a feed from Jenelle Jahoda. Just 50 seconds later, Erica Donnelly got in on the scoring as she flicked a shot from 10 yards out into the back of the net.

Women's Soccer - Bears Record Rare Back-to-Back Shutouts

Katie Romas scored the only goal the Bears would need in the 3-0 win over Mitchell.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/14/10)--Coast Guard recorded back-to-back shutout wins for the first time in nine years as the Bears beat host Mitchell 3-0 in a non-conference match up between the two New London schools.

Coast Guard had gone 135 games since posting consecutive shutout wins. The Bears last accomplished the feat in Sept. of 2001 with wins over Bay Path and WPI.

Junior goalkeeper Mary Mills made three saves to record her second shutout of the season and fourth of her career.

Sophomore Katie Romas scored the only goal the Bears would need in the 23rd minute off a corner kick from freshman Rachel Deschene. The Bears led 1-0 at halftime.

Women's Soccer - Bears Roll past NY Maritime

Angela Ingram scored a pair of goals and assisted on another in the win.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/11/10)--Junior Angela Ingram scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as five different players scored leading Coast Guard to a 6-0 non-conference win over New York Maritime in the Bears’ home opener.

Junior Shannah Shelton scored in the 15th minute and Ingram scored her first goal in the 39th minute with freshman Judy Hooymans assisting as Coast Guard led 2-0 at halftime.

Freshman Rachel Deschene scored her first career goal in the 61st minute with Shelton assisting.
