Junior goalkeeper Trish Ohle had 17 saves, but the Bears lost to Eastern Conn. 2-0.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/5/07)--Sophomore Taylor MacDonald scored both goals while junior Nicole Gaudette assisted on both scores as Eastern Connecticut won its season opener beating host Coast Guard 2-0 in a non-conference game.

MacDonald broke the scoreless tie just 2:13 into the second half and added an insurance goal in the 75th minute for the Warriors.

Eastern Connecticut (1-0) outshot Coast Guard 24-5. Trish Ohle had 17 saves for the Bears.

Women's Soccer - Bears Drop Opener 1-0 in Double Overtime
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(8/31/07)--Ashley Lambert scored with 3:31 left in the second overtime giving Lasell a 1-0 season opening win over Coast Guard, the first career win for head coach Vito LaFrancesca.

Both teams had great chances in the first overtime, but they came up empty before Lambert took a pass from Ann Pasterzyck on the right side and blasted a shot just inside the far post for the victory.

Women's Soccer - 2007 Season Preview

Senior tri-captain Stacy Chmielecki and the Bears open the season at home vs. Lasell on Friday at 4 p.m.
Coast Guard looks to turn things around this season after an injury riddled season saw the Bears drop their final nine games of the season to finish 4-13 overall and 0-9 in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

This season, first year head coach Susan Grant welcomes back a veteran group that includes eight starters and 14 letterwinners returning.

Sophomore Katie Kurek, who led the team with four goals last season returns along with junior Emma Marr, who appeared in 13 games a year ago, at the forward spots. Senior Katie Ustler, who missed nine game due to injury last season and junior KC Gaudette, who made seven starts a year ago will also see time up front.

Women's Soccer - Susan Grant Named Women's Soccer Head Coach

Susan Grant takes over the Coast Guard women's soccer program.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(7/26/07)--Susan Grant has been named head coach of the women’s soccer team at the United States Coast Guard Academy. She replaces Carla DeSantis.

Grant, a 1995 graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland with a degree in Physical Education, has a wide variety of coaching experience, having coached women’s soccer, lacrosse and field hockey at several levels.

“We are excited about adding Susan Grant to our coaching staff,” said Dr. Ray Cieplik, Coast Guard Academy Director of Athletics. “She has an excellent background in athletics, and we expect her expertise in women’s soccer and coaching to contribute to the development of our cadet athletes in a significant way.”
