 Sean Stadig scored the first goal of his career as the Bears beat Springfield. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/1/10)--Junior Sean Stadig scored his first career goal late in the first half and classmate Kevin Noll added a header in the closing seconds of the game as Coast Guard knocked off Springfield, ranked ninth in New England, 2-0 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
The Bears, who are 4-1-1 in their last six games, run their unbeaten streak to four improving to 5-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
Stadig scored off a rebound with 7:08 left in the first half as he followed up a shot that came off of sophomore goalkeeper Chris Walton’s hands.
Springfield carried the play in the first half outshooting Coast Guard 9-2, but the Bears led 1-0 at the break. |

 Frank Hackett's penalty kick was the only goal of the game. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/28/10)--Senior Frank Hackett converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute and it was the only goal of the game as Coast Guard beat Massachusetts Maritime 1-0 in a non-conference game.
Hackett was taken down in the box just 2:20 into the second half and he buried the penalty kick to the left of freshman goalkeeper Brett Young.
Coast Guard improved its unbeaten streak to three straight improving to 4-3-1 overall. Mass. Maritime drops to 2-6 on the year. |

 Anthony Walker tied the game in the 83rd minute. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/25/10)--Junior Anthony Walker's goal in the 83rd minute tied the game as Coast Guard and Clark played to a 1-1 tie in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Clark is now to 4-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play while Coast Guard is 3-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in NEWMAC action.
The Cougars had the better of the play in the opening minutes but did not generate any quality opportunities. With the wind at their back, Clark went ahead in the 20th minute, off a Coast Guard corner, the Clark defense blocked a potential goal and countered down the field. The Cougars gained their own corner, Clark served a driven ball in the box and a failure to clear by the CGA defense resulted in a hand ball in the box.
Baran Doenmez converted the penalty kick with a shot in the corner for a 1-0 lead. |

 The Bears upset Conn. College to win the Whale Cup. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/22/10)--Coast Guard scored a goal in each half and senior Chris Tarbell was excellent in goal as the Bears knocked off previously unbeaten Connecticut College 2-0 to win the Whale Cup in the annual meeting between the two New London rivals.
The visiting Bears took advantage of an own goal in the final minute of the first half when freshman John Rendon's shot deflected off of a Conn. College defender.
Tarbell had a pair of outstanding saves in the first half as the Bears maintained the 1-0 lead at the break. |
