NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/25/08)--Senior quarterback Niles Pierson threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to junior Cale Cooper with 5:30 left as Coast Guard scored 17 unanswered points in the second half to beat Worcester State 17-14 in a New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division game.
Last season, Coast Guard scored 40 unanswered points to beat Worcester State 46-10.
Worcester State (2-6, 2-3), which domininated the first half, scored on its first possession when senior quarterback Pat Good (9 of 15, 111 yards, TD, 2 INT) threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to junior David Salvi (3 catches, 77 yards) capping a nine play, 72 yard drive for a 7-0 lead with 10:50 left in the opening quarter.

LAST YEAR: Coast Guard scored 40 unanswered points, including 23 in the third quarter, turning a 10-6 deficit into a 46-10 New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division win over host Worcester State, spoiling the Lancers Homecoming festivities.
Coast Guard, the defending NEFC Bogan Division champions, won its fifth straight this season and 12 straight division game dating back to last season, to improve to 6-1 overall and a remain alone atop the division with a perfect 5-0 record.
Junior quarterback Niles Pierson, making his first start of the season, had a huge day for Coast Guard as he accounted for three touchdowns gaining 98 yards on 10 caries and throwing for 196 yards and a pair of TD tosses. Senior running back Lance Lynch was also impressive on the ground as he rushed for 97 yards. |

BRIDGEWATER, MASS.--(10/18/08)--Bridgewater State had 440 yards of total offense and beat Coast Guard 38-7 in an NEFC Bogan Division game.
Bridgewater (4-3, 3-1 NEFC Bogan) racked up 305 yards on the ground and 440 yards of total offense as they did not disappoint the Homecoming Game crowd of over 1,500 fans. BSC is now tied for first place in the division along with Maine Maritime and Fitchburg State.
Senior running back Bruce Burley led the offense as he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns while also catching a pass for 43 yards. Sophomore quarterback Jessy Resende added 116 yards on the ground to go along with a touchdown. |
