 Pat Bennett earned ECAC All-Star honors for the first time. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/6/09)--Coast Guard Academy junior defensive back Pat Bennett and freshman kicker Jacob Shackleford were named to the 2008 ECAC Division III Northeast All-Star team.
Bennett earned ECAC All-Star honors for the first time in his career while Shackleford was the only freshman named to the 25 player team.
Shackleford, who was 8 for 9 on field goal attempts this season with a long of 45 yards was a New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division first team selection. He made 18 of 20 extra points and his only missed field goal was from 49 yards. |

 Linebacker Brian Yurovich led the team in tackles and earned first team All-division honors. After going 8-1 and winning back-to-back New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division championships in each of the last two seasons with perfect 7-0 records in division play, Coast Guard did something it had not done in each of the last two seasons, the Bears dropped a close game, in fact, the team dropped a pair of close games, the final two game of the season, and finished 3-6 overall and 3-4 in division play.
Coast Guard had won all six games that were decided by seven points or less, three in each of the last two seasons and after posting a 16-13 win over Westfield State in the Bogan Division opener on a 32-yard field goal by freshman Jacob Shackleford with 16 seconds left, the Bears pushed their Bogan Division winning streak to 15 games while notching another nail biter. |

 Justin Brooks earned first team All-division honors for the second straight season. NEW LONDON, CONN.—-(11/24/08)--Coast Guard placed seven players on the New England Football Conference (NEFC) All-Bogan Division team including five on the first team in voting by the division’s eight head coaches.
Coast Guard which won back-to-back NEFC Bogan Division championships with perfect division records in 2006 and 2007 finished 3-6 overall and 3-4 in division play.
Senior linebackers Brian Yurovich and Brian Field along with junior cornerback Pat Bennett were named first team from the defense. All three were second team All-division selections in 2007. |

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/8/08)--Senior quarterback Bruce Rich scored on a 13-yard run with 10 seconds left as Framingham State scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to beat Coast Guard 25-23 in a New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division game, the final game of the season for both teams.
Framingham State (5-5, 3-4), which had 508 yards of total offense, finishes the season at .500 for the first time since the team finished 6-4 in 1986 while Coast Guard finishes 3-6 overall and 3-4 in division play.
Coast Guard was leading 23-19 and appeared to have the game in hand when junior Pat Bennett intercepted Rich with 3:47 left on the Coast Guard 16-yard line, but junior running back Steve Arguelles fumbled with 52 second left on the Framingham 41-yard line giving the Rams one last chance and it took them just four plays to go 59 yards and win the game. |
