 Senior quarterback Christian George earned Bogan Division Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second straight season. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/8/07)--Senior quarterback Christian George was named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season as Coast Guard won three major awards and placed 12 players on the All-division team as voted on by the eight head coaches in the Bogan Division.
Coast Guard, in its second season in the NEFC, won its second straight Bogan Division championship with a perfect 7-0 record. The Bears are now 14-0 over the past two seasons in the division.
Senior left guard Nick Hartmann was named the Offensive Lineman of the Year as the Bears lead the nation with just six sacks allowed while head coach Bill George, in his ninth season, was named the Bogan Division Coach of the Year for the first time. |

THE SERIES: Curry leads 1-0 as the only meeting was the Colonels 34-28 win in the NEFC Championship game last season.
LAST YEAR: Senior Jarrad Jordan earned NEFC championship game MVP honors for the second straight year leading Boyd Division champion Curry to its fourth straight NEFC championship, a 34-28 win over Bogan Division champion Coast Guard.
Jordan had 24 carries for 174 of the Colonels 328 rushing yards. Coast Guard could muster just 16 yards rushing on 25 carries against the Curry defense.
Curry took a 34-7 lead with 3:17 left in the third quarter before surviving a ferocious comeback by the Bears to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs for the fourth straight time. |

 Keenan Prather returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown on the third play of the game as the Bears rolled. FRAMINGHAM, MASS.--(11/3/07)--- Coast Guard, which has won 16 of its last 17 regular season games, completed its second straight unbeaten season in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division, as they jumped out a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 34-7 win over Framingham State in a driving rain storm in the regular season finale for both teams.
It did not take the Bears long to get on the scoreboard as on the third play from scrimmage, sophomore Keenan Prather returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown and following David Lieberman’s extra point, the Bears led 7-0 with 13:47 left in the first quarter.
Lieberman kicked a 29-yard field goal on the Bears second possession of the game capping a 16 play, 45-yard drive as Coast Guard took a 10-0 lead with 7:39 left in the first quarter. |

LAST YEAR: Sophomore quarterback Niles Pierson, making his second career start, won the Gold Helmet given by The Boston Globe, as he tied a school record throwing four touchdown passes and also ran for one, the first five touchdowns of his career leading Coast Guard to its eighth straight win, a 42-21 win over Framingham State in a New England Football Conference Bogan Division game, the regular season finale for both teams.
The Coast Guard defense forced seven turnovers including a season-high six interceptions, three by freshman Steve Arguelles, who tied the Coast Guard single-season school record with 11 interceptions.
Pierson was 24 for 33 with 288 yards with the four touchdown passes and the one touchdown run. He left the game with the Bears ahead 42-14 after three quarters. |
