Women's Cross Country - Bears Take 6th at Smith Invitational
NORTHAMPTON,MASS.--(9/8/07)--Sara McGuigan was the top Coast Guard finisher as she placed eighth (20:43)at the season opening Smith Invitational.

Nicole Bucala finished first (19:46) and led MIT to the team title (37).

The Bears finished sixth with 145 points. Tessa Knott was 20th (21:31), Lauren Tumulty was 35th (21:55), Bryce Van Cleef was 44th (22:15) and Charlotte Delorey was 62nd (23:07) for Coast Guard.

Coast Guard, coming off one of its best seasons as the Bears won their first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship and placed second at the ECAC Division III Championship, must replace its three top runners from a year ago.

The Bears lost senior Caitlin Quinn, who won the ECAC championship and was an All-conference selection, and senior Aidan VanCleef, an All-conference selection, to graduation and JoEllen Arons, another All-conference selection last season, is out of eligibility and will serve as an assistant coach this season.

Women's Cross Country - NEWMAC Champion Bears Have Sensational Season

Senior Caitlyn Quinn won the ECAC Championship.
In one of the most successful Fall seasons at the Coast Guard Academy, the women’s cross country team shared in the spotlight as the Bears won their first ever New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship.

The Bears had three runners earn All-conference honors as Junior JoEllen Arons (20:02.7) was fourth senior co-captain Caitlin Quinn was sixth (20:13.10) and senior Aidan VanCleef was seventh (20:14.30) overall.

Quinn won the ECAC Division III championship the following week as the Bears placed a school-best second overall. Quinn won the 6K race in 22 minutes, 57 seconds as the Bears, who placed five runners in the top 21.

Women's Cross Country - Caitlin Quinn Earns All-New England Honors; Bears Place 10th
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(11/11/06)--Senior co-captain Caitlin Quinn earned All-New England honors for the first time in her career with a 29th place finish leading the Bears to a 10th place finish of 48 teams at 2006 NCAA Division III MWomen’s New England Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by Springfield College at the Veterans Golf Course.

Quinn was the top Coast Guard finisher as she ran the course in 23:01.1. Junior JoEllen Arons was 42nd (23:37.9), freshman Bryce Van Cleef was 44th (23:39.9), junior Sara McGuigan was 54th (23:47.9) while senior Linnea Alejandre was 115th overall (25:00.8)

The top 35 runners earn All-New England honors.
