 Sarah Blatt led the way for the Bears as they won the Wellesley Invitational. WELLESLEY, MASS.--(10/24/09)--Coast Guard women’s cross country won the Wellesley College Invitational edging out host Wellesley College by one point.
The Bears scored 28 points as a team, ahead of Wellesley, Connecticut College, and St. Joseph’s.
Sarah Blatt was the runner-up and top finisher for Coast Guard finishing the 5-kilometer course in 19:36. Tessa Knott was right behind in third place at 19:49.
Katie Schumacher came next for Coast Guard finishing 6th overall in 20:34. Teammates MaryKate Neatrour (20:42), Bryce VanCleef (20:43), and Cat Truesdell (20:45) finished in a tight pack taking 8th through 10th place. |

WESTFIELD, MASS.--(10/10/09)--Coast Guard, which sent its top runners to the All-New England Championships in Boston, placed 16th of 25 teams at the James Early Invitational at Wesfield State.
Freshman Julia Kane was the top Coast Guard finisher as she placed 65th with a time of 22:05.81 over the 5K course. Sophomore Kathryn Peek was 77th (22:19.64), freshman Sarah Hohenberger placed 88th (22:53.44) while sophomore Tess Swiecanski finished 90th (22:59.07) rounding out the Bear finishers in the top 100. |

 Tessa Knott was the top Coast Guard finisher. BOSTON, MASS.--(10/10/09)--The Coast Guard Academy women’s cross country team raced made their first ever appearance at the Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. In a race comprised of 327 athletes from Division I, II, and III institutions, the Bears finished 35th out of 49 scoring teams.
Leading the way for Coast Guard was Tessa Knott, who crossed the finish line in 19:49 placing 136th overall. Behind Knott was Sarah Blatt, finishing the 5K course in 20:23 finishing in 188th place. |

 Colin Fall was the third Coast Guard finisher as they placed 7th at the Conn. Invite. WATERFORD, CONN.--(9/26/09)--Coast Guard ran its first 6K course of the season at the Connecticut College Invitational held at Harkness Memorial Park.
Once again, freshman Sarah Blatt and senior Tessa Knott led the way as the Bears placed seventh out of 15 competing teams.
Blatt and Knott completed the 6K course in 23:48 and 23:59 placing 21st and 26th overall. The next three runners from Coast Guard crossed the finish within 27 seconds of each other including Colin Fall (24:19), Bryce VanCleef (24:42), and Cat Truesdell (24:46). |
