BOSTON, MASS.--(9/25/10)--Freshman Meghan Kalinowski had an impressive ninth place finish as Coast Guard finished fourth of the 23 teams at the 32nd Annual Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park.

Kalinowksi ran the 5K course in 20:14. Senior Colin Fall was 30th overall in 21:00.

Also for the Bears, sophomore Sarah Blatt was 36th (21:17), freshman Rebecca Fox placed 48th in 21:31 while junior Katie Schmuacher rounded out the Bears top five with a 51st place finish (21:36).

Women's Cross Country - Bears Place 8th at UMass Dartmouth

Sarah Blatt was the top Coast Guard finisher at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

DARTMOUTH, MASS.--(9/18/2010)--Coast Guard placed 8th out of 44 competing teams at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational. The longest running cross country race of its kind in New England, the UMass Dartmouth Invitational brings together almost 1,000 of the top NCAA Division III male and female cross country runners and teams from throughout New England for a day of athletic competition on the UMass Dartmouth campus.

Sophomore Sarah Blatt was the top finisher (28th) for CGA as she covered the 5K course tying her personal record of 19:06. Next for Coast Guard was freshman Meghan Kalinowski finishing in 43rd place and crossing the line in 19:30.

Coast Guard’s 3rd and 4th place finishers were neck and neck both running personal record performances with senior Colin Fall running 19:56 (62nd) and junior Katie Schumacher finishing in 19:58 (65th).

Sarah Blatt is the Bears top returner for the 2010 season.

Coast Guard Academy head coach Ethan Brown returns for his second season and looks to improve and an outstanding season in 2009.

The Bears finished 16th at the NCAA Regional Championships after finishing 21st in 2008. Returners sophomore Sarah Blatt, co-captain senior Colin Fall and junior Katie Schumacher were among CGA’s top finishers at the Regional Championships.

Last year, Coast Guard placed 5th at the ECAC Championships among 46 teams from eight states, which included a field of 300+ runners. One week prior to the ECAC Championships, the Bears recorded a 4th place finish at the NEWMAC Championship improving on their 7th place finishes in 2007 & 2008. Then senior Tessa Knott and current sophomore Sarah Blatt placed 16th and 17th respectively at the conference championships just missing all conference honors.
