Men's Cross Country - Bears Win Smith Invitational

Trevor Siperek placed third to lead the Bears to a win in the season opener.
NORTHAMPTON, MASS.--(9/10/11)--Senior Trevor Siperek placed third overall as the Bears had four runners in the top nine leading the Bears to a first place finish at the season-opening Smith Invitational.

Siperek finished in 16:43.08. Sophomore Gary Ezzo (16:55.54) was sixth, senior Kevin O'Brien (17:05.47) was eighth while junior Thomas Heikkinen (17:10.26) placed ninth.

Coast Guard won with 33 points while Springfield was second with 43 points.
 
Men's Cross Country - Bears Place 14th at N.E. Championships

Kevin O'Brien was the top Coast Guard finisher at the Division III New England Championships.
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.--(11/13/10)--Juniors Kevin O'Brien and Trevor Siperek were the top two Coast Guard finishers as the Bears placed 14th at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams.

O'Brien was 60th overall with a time of 27:07 while Siperek placed 62nd in 27:10.

Also for Bears, freshman Garry Ezzo (27:40) was 86th, junior Joe Hill (28:04) was 105th while senior Andrew Price (28:20) was 125th to round out the Beras top five.

MIT won the meet while Williams placed second.
 
Men's Cross Country - Bears Place 16th at ECAC Championship

John Locke was the top Coast Guard finisher at the ECAC Championship.
BRISTOL, R.I.--(11/6/10)--Coast Guard rested its top runners for next weeks New England Championships and placed 16th of 41 teams at the ECAC Championship.

Freshman John Locke was the top Coast Guard finisher placing 58th overall with a time of 27:45.13

Freshman Brad Pienta (28:09.36) was 79th, freshman Ryan O'Neil (28:14.55) placed 87th, junior Trevor Auth (28:25.42) was 103rd while junior Myles McCarthy (28:27.28) rounded out the Bears top five by placing 107th overall.
 
Men's Cross Country - Eldridge Named NEWMAC Coach of the Year

Steve Eldridge earned NEWMAC Coach of the Year honors for the second time in three years.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/4/10)--Coast Guard Academy men’s cross country head coach Steve Eldridge was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year in voting by the seven head coaches in the NEWMAC.

Eldridge led the Bears to a second place finish for the 12th time in 13 years at the NEWMAC Championship on Saturday in Worcester, Mass. He earns NEWMAC Coach of the Year honors for the second time in three years as he won the award in 2008 as the Bears placed second.

Coast Guard had four runners earn All-conference honors with top 14 finishes.

Eldridge, in his 42nd season as head coach of the Bears cross country team, has twice led his team to the NCAA Championships in 1989 and 2001.
