WESTFIELD, MASS.--(10/11/08)--Junior Mike Mrkvicka was the top Coast Guard finisher as he placed 15th overall with a time of 27:12.83 leading the Bears to a fourth place finish at Westfield State's James Earley Invitational.
Senior Matt Eyler (27:39.85) was 23rd, classmate Torrey Jacobsen (28:03.09) was 34th, senior Kyle Richer (28:07.65) was 35th while senior Phil Murray (40th) also placed in the top 40 for the Bears with a time of 28:14.94. |

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.--(9/27/08)--Senior Mike Persun was the top Coast Guard finisher as he placed 14th overall leading the Bears to a sixth place finish at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic.
Persun, the NEWMAC Runner of the Week last week, finished the 8K course with a time of 26.53.
Mike Haas placed 29th (27:22), Zach Henninghausen was 38th (27:36), Andrew Price was 44th (27:48) and Kevin O'Brien was 52nd (28:05). |

 Mike Persun earned NEWMAC Runner of the Week honors with his eighth place finish. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/22/08)--Senior Mike Persun, who placed eighth at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Persun finished with a time of 25:18 and was one of three Coast Guard runners to place in the top 21 as the Bears placed second of the 28 teams.
Coast Guard had opened the season with a win at the Smith Invitational last week when Persun won the race with a time of 16:32.82. The Bears took the top seven spots in that race. |

 Mike Persun placed 8th overall leading the Bears to a second place finish. DARTMOUTH, MASS.--(9/20/08)--Coast Guard placed three runners in the top 21 spots as the Bears placed second of the 38 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
Keene State won with 85 points while the Bears finished with 115 points.
Mike Persun placed 8th overall (25:18), Mike Haas was 12th (25:25) and Nate Crum was 21st (25:33).
Three others placed in the top 50 as Pat Fernandez (25:47) was 32nd, Zach Hennighausen was 42nd (25:59) and Trevor Siperek (26:13) was 49th. |
