Men's Cross Country - Bears Place 19th at NE Championships

Kevin O'Brien was the top Coast Guard finisher at the Division III New England Championships.
CUMBERLAND, MAINE--(11/14/09)--Kevin O'Brien was the top Coast Guard finisher and the Bears placed 19th of 48 teams at the New England Division III Championship hosted by Southern Maine.

O'Brien finished the 8,000 meter course in 27:11 to place 87th overall while Andrew Price was 100th with a time of 27:24.2

Also for the Bears, Chris Marquis (27:40.1) was 123rd, Mike Mrkvicka (27:27.4) was 128th and Trevor Siperek (28:07.1) was 142nd overall.
 
Men's Cross Country - Bears Place 18th at ECACs
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.--(11/07/09)--Coast Guard placed 18th of the 43 teams at the ECAC Division III Championship hosted by Williams College.

Junior Matt Brew was the top Coast Guard finisher as he finished the 8K course in 28:37.1 to place 76th overall.

Sophomore Brett Morris (29:28.3) was 111th, senior Adam Stanek (29:28.3) was 112th, sophomore Myles McCarthy (29:43.3) placed 124th while the Bears top five was rounded out by junior Alex Cropley (30:04.2) who placed 145th.

Adam Stanek was one of five members of the men's team named to the All-Academic team.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/4/09)--Coast Guard placed eight student-athletes on the 2009 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic cross country teams.

Senior Adam Stanek, junior Karl Alejandre and sophomores Trevor Auth, Devin Quinn and Mark Zanowicz were honored from the men’s team while senior Bryce VanCleef, junior Meghan Zehringer and sophomore Katie Schumacher were named from the women’s team

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2009 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at his or her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Kevin O'Brien earned All-conference honors with an 11th place finish.
BOSTON, MASS.--(10/31/09)--Kevin O'Brien earned All-conference honors with an 11th place finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at Franklin Park. Coast Guard placed third of the seven conference teams.

O'Brien finished with a time of 26:59.

Also for the Bears, Andrew Price was 15th (27:20), Trevor Siperek was 20th (27:49), Chris Marquis was 23rd (27:56) while Mike Mrkvicka placed 27th (28:14) to round out the Bears top five.
