 Jeff Mistrick won both diving events for the Bears. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/19/11)--Senior diver Jeff Mistrick won both boards while junior Kevin Smit won a pair of events leading Coast Guard to a 127-82 win over WPI.
Coast Guard improves to 4-1 on the season with its second home victory in as many days.
Mistrick won the 1-meter diving with 220.25 points and the 3-meter event with 227.70 points while Smit won the 200 freestyle (1:50.23) and the 200 butterfly (1:57.91).
Also for Coast Guard, sophomore Jacob Kramb won the 1,000 freestyle (10:28.50), freshman Christian Brindamour won the 50 freestyle (21.75), freshman Tim Early won the 400 IM (4:26.31) and senior Johnson Knox won the 100 freestyle (47.58).
The Bears 200 medley relay team of Brindamour and seniors Brett Gayman, Preston Strobel and Dan Beshoar also won with a time of 1:39.68.

 Brittney Zimmerman led all scorers with 18 points in the win. NEW LONDON, CONN.—-(11/19/11)--Freshman Brittney Zimmerman led five players in double figures with 18 points while sophomore Kaitlin Ward had 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals leading Coast Guard to a 78-58 win over Johnson & Wales in a non-conference game.
Coast Guard, which won just three games last season, improves to 2-0 on the season for the first time in four years. Johnson & Wales drops to 1-1 on the season.
Freshman Victoria Gurtler registered her second straight double-double of the season with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds while freshman Dani Knox had 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Jamie Waterman finished with ten points while classmate Alexi Howland had a game-high seven assists. |

 Marco Tinari was one of three double winners in the win over Providence. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/18/11)--Marco Tinari, Derrian Duryea and Jeff Mistrick each won two events leading Coast Guard to a 165-109 win over Providence College.
Tinari won the 1,000 freestyle (10:03.92) and the 500 freestyle (4:52.94), Duryea won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.08) and the 200 breaststroke (2:14.87) while Mistrick won the 1-meter diving with 200.9 points and the 3-meter event with 242 points.
Also for Coast Guard, Alex Dona won the 200 freestyle (1:47.37), Christian Brindamour won the 100 backstroke (55.49), Kevin Smit won the 200 butterfly (1:58.77), Johnson Knox won the 50 freestyle (22.08) and Dan Beshoar won the 100 freestyle (48.18). |

 Greg Marshall had a career-high 28 points to lead the Bears to an overtime win. SWARTHMORE, PA.--(11/18/11)--Junior Greg Marshall and freshman David Anderson combined for 50 points as Marshall had a career-high 28 and Anderson finished with a career-high 22 points and ten rebounds leading Coast Guard to a 73-71 overtime win over Haverford on the opening night of the 20th Annual Equinox Classic at Swarthmore College.
Coast Guard scored the first eight points of the overtime period for a 71-63 lead following a layup by Marshall with 1:28 left, but the Fords did not go quietly.
Haverford cut the lead to 71-68 on a hoop by Cam Baker with 42 seconds left in overtime. Marshall made a pair of free throws before a 3-pointer by Ian Goldberg made it 73-71 with 31 seconds left.
Marshall then missed a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left giving the Fords a chance but Baker’s 3-pointer, for the win, at the buzzer was no good and the Bears held on to even their record at 1-1 on the season. |
