NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/10/11)--Sophomore Holli Bastinck was 7 for 8 with a homer, seven RBI’s and five runs scored as Coast Guard, ranked 7th nationally, scored 31 runs on 32 hits in a non-conference doubleheader, sweeping Salve Regina 15-2 and 16-0, both games were stopped after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
In the opener, freshman Devin Fellman and Bastinck were both 4 for 4 with a homer and three RBI’s while senior All-American Amanda Frederick, who became the Bears all-time hits leader last week, blasted a grand slam to highlight a seven-run fourth. Sophomore Catherine Walker added a two-run homer in the win.
Also in the opener, junior Maddie Buchert was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and Frederick had a pair of hits and two runs scored in the win. |

 Kim Kopcak won the discus at the Swanson Invitational. MIDDLETOWN, CONN.--(4/9/11)--Kim Kopcak won the discus while Alexa Hunko captured the javelin for Coast Guard at the Elmer Swanson Invitational at Wesleyan University.
Kopcak won the discus with a throw of 102 feet while Hunko won the javelin with a toss of 92 feet, four inches.
The Bears took the top three spots in the discus as Emily Trudeau was second (100-3) and Amanda Cost placed third (99-9). |

 Carl Luxhoj won both the long jump and triple jump. MIDDLETOWN, CONN.--(4/9/11)--Carl Luxhoj and Adam Scalesse were double winners as the Bears won nine events at the Elmer Swanson Invitational at Wesleyan.
Luxhoj won both the long jump (21-10.75) and the triple jump (45-8.5) while Scalesse captured both the 110 hurdles (15.11) and the 400 hurdles (54.73) for the Bears.
Also for Coast Guard, Trevor Siperek broke the school record and won the 3,000 meters (8:48.89), Kevin O'Brien captured the 5,000 meters (15:41.73), Devin Adams won the hammer throw (136-5), John Jaskot won the high jump (6-3.25) and Ben Wolhaupter won the pole vault (12-5.25). |

 Chris Hoffman won at #4 singles and was part of the winning #2 doubles team for the Bears. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/9/11)--Coast Guard did not drop a set in beating Springfield 9-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
Greg Mitchell won at #1 singles (7-5, 6-2), Nick Martin won at #2 singles (6-2, 6-0), Austin Dean won at #3 singles (6-2, 6-1), Chris Hoffman was victorious at #4 singles (6-4, 7-5), Josh Fischer won 6-3, 7-5 at #5 singles while Blake Maurer won the first set 6-0 and 1-0 before his opponent retired in the second set. |
